Cup holders in the dashboard
Hello everyone,
I'm just trying to get some information on the possibility of cup holders in the dash of an L300. I've seen on here a set up up where there are 2 cup holders that pop out from the dashboard under the stereo. I'm thinking of upgrading my stereo which is currently a double din, and installing a standard sized unit with one of these cup holders in the other part of the space (if I can find one)
Anyway, if anyone has any insight to this and knows where I might purchase one, please let me know.
Cheers, Phil

I had a set of those DIN mount cup holders from something at the wrecking yard. I found that they were practically useless: the top edge of most cups would hit the padded top section of the dash by the air vents, tilting the cup. I figure they work in a regular car because the dashboard usually slopes away towards the windscreen, but in our vans the dashboard slopes the other way.
It's possible the ones I had just didn't pop out very far. Your mileage may vary

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Yeah a lot of the aftermarket car accessories can be quite junky and made of poor quality. I wasn't sure if Mitsubishi sold something specific to the L300 that fit properly and worked well. The cup holders on the underside of the center console aren't bad, but the placement socks and they're hard to access. I thought about removing the gage cluster that sits on top of the dash, and even though none of the three guages are currently functioning, I don't want to remove it as its original to the van.
Maybe it's time to quit drinking coffee....... lol

Not sure if this would work here. But I had seen cup holders that mount on the door frame where the windows go down into the door. Figures I'd throw it out there. Anyways good luck

I found a really good plastic organizer with cup holders at Canadian Tire. I put it down on my original center console lid, and secured it with 4 screws. It's sturdy, the location is great, and it holds CDs, coffee, change, and absolute garbage that makes its way there. It cost about 15$. Some of them are pretty junky, but this works really well in our scenario.

Could you post a pic or two? I'm interested to see how yours looks.

Thanks for the ideas & suggestions. I think I'm gonna hold out until I find a decent din mount holder. I did a google search, but without any luck. Maybe someone on here has the scoop on where to buy a good one....

Phil,
Check IH8MUD.com (land cruiser forum). Go to the FZJ 80 section and type in double din drink holder. You will find info & pics there for a double din drink holder. Cup holders are a big deal for the 80 series as they have none .I believe the issue is that ultimatly your drinks will block access to your radio. I've used double din pioneers in my last two vehicles. Consider that they offer you larger text size on their screens which is an advantage since the radio is quite a reach from the drivers seat. Another benefit is the option of a back up camera ( option for an additional camera as well). The double din in my land cruiser is carplay (Apple) compatible and very handy. In my deli I installed a cheaper pioneer double din screen but it has been great. About $229.00 on Amazon and did I mention they both have adjustable tilting screens?

Phil,
Now that I've finished digressing about double din radios I will add my source for cupholders. Check out BH3d.com. The gent there makes printed cup holders for land Cruisers and 4runners. Currently I have two 80 series versions mounted up front in my deli. They are a great match for the grey interior. You will also see that there are integrated options for phone holders, flashlight slots and removable cup inserts so you can fit your largest yeti container.I've had these and two others in my land cruiser for over two years and they have held up great. I'd post pics of where I mounted mine but it's a bit of a hassle to get them downloaded to this forum.

This is the cheap solution that we came to. It serves the purpose well, holds our drinks, and collects junk. I don't mind driving a few screws into the plastic, so we adapted this for our use. The only issue is getting used to grabbing a coffee on your left side

Thanks guys,
I prefer grabbing my coffee from the left side as I'm a lefty anyways:)
I'm gonna check out the link you provided Captain America. I do love the double din set up, but what got me thinking about the cup holder option in the dash is when I saw an ad for a screen that pops out from the stereo that was on sale. I thought now I can have the best of both worlds. But this has now got me thinking that the drink holder might interfere with the screens operation though.....
Anyway, thanks for the input. I'm going to look into this a little further.
Cheers, Phil

Any chance of a spelling mistake or something?

Another option that I have used before I got the 3d printed cupholders was a Land Rover discovery unit. The grey/black combo matches the grey interior of the deli's. They have removable inserts so they can fit many different sized cups. They can be found on eBay. From model years 1998 to 2004 I believe.
