I was doing some looking around for a high foot rack for my Crystal Lite Roof, and I was shocked to see the price difference between two rack outfitters, one in Vancouver (Rack Attack) and one in Seattle (Rack N Road).
Maybe this is another example of manufacturers lagging behind in adjusting for a higher Canadian dollar.
Thule 953 Super High Foot
gutter mounted base system
no bars, but 4 towers
Rack Attack price: CAD$294.99
Rack N Road Price: US$168.30
I assume Rack N Road only offers free shipping within the U.S. so I'm going to have it shipped to Blaine Enterprises which is 500m from the Peace Arch border crossing. They hold packages for Canadians for $5.
If you know of a better deal on a similar rack setup please post!
Don't know about cheaper rack but here's another postal outlets in Blaine that I've been using for years and have nothing but great thing to say about them...

Wow, great info guys. I'm trying to order a hitch mounted cargo basket which is $135 with free shipping in the US, or $250 rack attack I'd never heard of the postal outlet service next time I'm in the States for the weekend.
That seems like a great price. For comparison purposes, if you went to eBay the following with the required 953 locks and feet added in at $40.00 more would cost $160.00 Before SHipping:
I picked up a yakima roof rack for my high roof at ocean river in victoria and I must say I paid too much, works well though. Paid 300 including the kayak pads.
I have a Yakima system already and all I need are the towers for the Deli, I allready have crappy Thule kayak saddles from MEC that I had to join with turnbuckles hastily purchased at the Tofino Co-Op after my kayaks kept settling onto my roof on the twisty road from Nanaimo.
Anyway, I have a high roof Delica, did you get the 1A HiRise Towers? If so, did they work, and do you know what their cost was?
The Q Towers are rated for 165 lbs which doesn't seem that low to me. With the Q Stretch Kit, we've carried 2 Sea Kayaks on top that were loaded with gear inside from ALberta to Toquart Bay with triple that weight and back again without the system moving a centimeter. However that is with a gutterless roof on our car, maybe the rain gutter system like the Delica has is not as robust for carrying weight.
Another option with the Delica that would be a good idea but costs more money, instead of using 4 towers and 2 crossbars, use 6 Towers and 3 crossbars, or even 8 towers and 4 crossbars. As I already have wide crossbars for our GMC Truck, and shorter ones for our Chrysler LHS, and the roof of the Delica is so long, I suspect you could have a configuration something like a safari rack fore and copperhead bike racks aft, etc., or whatever if you went with 4 crossbars, but I haven't tried.
One suggestion I would make to anyone purchasing a new Yakima rack however, go with the longest bars you can get. WIth our LHS I simply bought the ones recommended and later discovered that by using the longer bars from my truck I could get enough extra space to carry another bike, or 3 bikes and the Pod all at once. With a low car, you quickly learn however not to stand up too fast with this configuration or you end up with a good bump on your head from the protruding crossbar, which would not be a problem with the Deli.
Hi, just check the weight of the Cross bars, the towers should hold more weight, but most of the cross bars have a max weight of 50lbs. you might be able to find some stronger ones. just make sure to ask.
TSB Shipping in Point Roberts is a good place to have them sent to too~ Point Roberts border takes around 2 mins at the Customs line, and TSB is about 1 minute down the road on your right. I had some bowling equipment sent over and they charged $3.00 for my package.
Any idea if they would work on an L400? They are much cheaper and much stronger. Adjustable width and height. A 3 bar system is the same price as a 2 bar Thule setup.
There was also a rack shop in Surrey near Costco somewhere. My wife bought racks for her Equinox that were the same product as Rack Attack supplied (Thule) but much cheaper. The fellow she dealt with was very friendly and helpful - even had the custom end caps for the bars - like skulls
Will search for who they are (or were)... hopefully they are still around. Could be a good alternative to heading south...
