Alternator mount wear...
Has anyone experienced their alternator mounting bolt slightly bending? I've come to the conclusion that my long time squeeling belts are now due for a quick you know what!!!

I've not yet seen a bent lower bolt, but I've seen lots of lower mount brackets with flogged out holes. Could that be the reason the bolt is bent?
My solution to the flogged out hole was to drill it and the alternator lugs out to 10mm and use a larger bolt. It's tricky to get a drill in there, but if you remove the radiator you can get a straight shot.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

LOL it outlasted the engine, at least! There's heaps of meat in the alternator bracket and lugs, and going from 8mm to 10mm only takes a millimetre out of it.
Easier than replacing the alternator bracket, since that's part of the oil pump.

had same issue with mine. Pulled the front cover and welded the hole closed. Then drilled it out on the drill press.

Alright.
Here's what I did. Drained the coolant and removed the rad,
moved the power steeling pump aside,
removed the fan,
disconnected the batteries,
dismounted the alternator but I didn't removed the back oil tube or the electrical connections.
Moved the alt enough to have enough space for my tap.
I made 3/8 tap then used a 3/8X4.5 inch ready rod ending with a nylock on either end.
Holy that worked great. All straight up.. Better than OEM...
Took me 6 Hours
I no longer have a nest of baby bird in the engine bay!
