What did you do TO your Delica today?

I finally tackled my rattling tailgate. Ever since i got the van it sounded like a bunch of gravel was rattling in the bottom of it. Turns out its the glue that holds the inner structure to the outer shell let go. After cleaning it as good as possible I glued everything back in place using construction glue. I tried different kinds to experiment. I ended up using two kinds of LePage construction adhesive. Time will tell if this works. The pictures are not that good but some of you will know what i am talking about.

It may be coincidence, or maybe every l400 tailgate comes apart, but I literally just picked up PL construction adhesive for the exact same reason as yourself. As in I just purchased it 1 hour before I read your post. I always have been annoyed by the shitty sound coming from there while on a bumpy road, and when closing the gate. So while I was messing around with some wiring and upgrading to LED bulbs my goal was to also do some soundproofing behind the interior panel of the tailgate. This is when I noticed the separation between the panels. Some wires are wrapped in a bit of foam for sound protection and some are not. My plan is to use some 1/4 inch foam weatherstripping I have lying around from walmart to wrap around wires etc. The rear window wiper motor is another culprit of shit noise. Before I'm done I will let allow some very trusted individual with more driving experience than myself, drive down a shit road with me in the back to identify all the sources of shit noise.

It seems to me you also need a bettet radio and speakers to drown out all the rattling coming from the back. It works for me[emoji6]

I permanently installed a 3.5 amp battery charger in my engine bay. This way if i feel like my batteries need a top up or warming up during a cold manitoba winter night i dont have to fumble with stiff charger cables, I just plug in a extension cord.
My espar heater draws some juice plus long glow plug cycles plus short trips in the winter are hard on the batteries. The batteries are Delco, probably not the ones I would have chosen for this climate.[img]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201710 ... db3db2.jpg[/img]

Last week I was trying ( and still am ) to find the source of a current drain on my battery. I removed the panel from the rear door to check the latch and while there found out my van IS equipped with the bulbs to light up “Delica“ on the rear door. I searched through the L300 section of tech stuff and in general followed Profister's lead. (viewtopic.php?f=98&t=2143 ) I did upgrade to LED's equivalent to 20W incandescent which should be much brighter than the 8W units he used. Very impressed with the results. Only problem may be the LED's I used are for indoor use which I only found out when I went to install them.

Well, I bought this one (named him "Wilson") last week in Edmonton and drove it home to Wakefield, Qc, just north of Ottawa.
Tried to get it safetied on Monday but figured it wouldn't pass as Quebec safeties are notoriously tough, and it didn't. So over the last few days I have pulled off a rear leaf spring to have one broken leak replaced and reinstalled it

, adjusted the rear brakes where the left side adjuster was seized but I took it apart and got it adjusting again

, installed a new muffler, installed a rear top middle brake light, installed rear mud flaps, added reflectors front and rear sides,

cleaned the front headlights (as in, took them apart and cleaned the inside as they were full of dust - actually thought one was burnt out but it was just really dirty!), replaced every burnt out bulb I could find, reattached the front filler panels using zip-ties

and, tomorrow I will adjust the front left bearing...oh, and there is a sticker on the driver's door that says the tire size is 215 SR15 so I had to do a quick KIJIJI purchase of used tires ($40) as the 235/75R15 I JUST PURCHASED are "TOO big for the vehicle, monsieu".

Getting them swapped on Wednesday. Then, off to get it re-safetied and registered and plated. Then get the tires swapped back!!!

Hi Manitoba
The flexy flares work okay, may wrinkle a tiny bit in the flat top front fender wheels on the series 2 Deli. Not too many other solutions and certainly the price is good.

Try maching out a set of toyota mags. The centers need maching out but a much better idea than black steel rims. The offset is greater as well. I found a set cheap on craigslist. Talk to your tire shop about the rims, mine told me which ones to buy.

"I think the left front wheel locks up first" quickly got out of hand. Stripping and rebuilding the callipers, fitting thicker discs (from a Pajero or Pajero Sport), and a set of thoroughly mental Pagid RS5 brake pads because the race brake guy loves Delicas too.

And tomorrow, I get to bed the pads in! From the Pagid break-in procedure: "10 stops with low pressure from 150kph down to approximately 80kph, followed by a sequence of 5 stops with medium to high pressure from 180kph to approximately 60kph..."
I'm not sure the van will survive being pushed off a cliff 15 times, but we'll see.

I used some 3/8" steel I had on hand (overkill) for the blanking plates and installed an EGT probe while I was in there.
