Let's try this again...

Post by jessef »

:-D

Alright. Finally got everything sorted out from the bruhaha 3-letter company.

I really recommend these guys (AutoRec). I've bought through them before and they usually buy dealer vehicles and keep them on their lot (massive), run through their inspection (usual).

I'm usually very picky about my vehicles and was about this one as well. I have about 50 pictures that I had them take of every nook and little place around the Deli.

This one is coming in and I'm looking forward to it.

Purchase date April 1st.

I'll know tomorrow if it can make it on the HYUNDAI PATRIOT for April 9th.

92 Chamonix
135k. Dealer Deli (not from auction)
Standard Chamonix specs including the beautiful logo's plastered on the side

It's the first Chamonix I've seen that doesn't have the psychedelic carpets.

Can't wait to start working on it.

For the inspection:

Raybestos brakes (twin piston) all around
DRL's / bulbs, etc...

The week after the inspection:

2 deep cycle batteries
Check LSD diff in the rear for play
Diffs/Tranny/Engine/oil's/filters replaced
Superwinch manual hubs on the fronts
Timing/water pump/pulleys/belts, etc...
Delica 'special' tuneup
Seal the front seams

3-4" lift
30/31" Procomp AT's
Flares
Replace shocks RS9000's

Fabricate armor for underneath the entire Delica front to rear
Swappable winch mount front/rear

Tint windows

Will fab a good full length/width roof rack.

I hope to do a WVO conversion as well. :M

Welcome to the group and the forum. Welcome and well met.

Looks like you got yourself a sweet ride. I like the Chamonix and their dark colors. I'm not complaining about my Super Exceed, but I do like the dark colors just the same. The best is when the inside is dark too, like delica304's ride. Nice that you got it from a dealer and not the auction.

How long do you have to wait? Couple of weeks? I'll bet the anticipation is eating at you. :-D

Thank you!

I originally wanted a super exceed with the crystal roof but it's still up in the air whether I'm going to get that one from IBC or not. Regardless, I'm stoked about this one.

I have to admit that at first I absolutely hated the Chamonix decals on the side, but it's starting to grow on me. We'll see :-D

I'm patient. I've been through it, so I know what's coming. But yeah. I'm pretty excited as it's our first Delica. :-D

I have to make a note about AutoRec.

The last Pajero I imported from them was great for the exception of a seized caliper when it got here. I got it fixed and they paid for it, no questions. The best overseas service I have ever received and I've had other people say the same.

I sent the wire transfer monday morning for the Chamonix. They received it that night (our time PST) and began processing it for shipping, hopefully on the April 9th ship. Talk about fast !

Just wanted to toss that out there for any DIY people wanting to buy from Japan.

Nice, Delica, jessie,
welcome to the forum,
why they ship it by container, if they have good link they can do ro-ro car carrier as it will be cheaper for you, about 500-700 dollar of saving for each delica.
they should offer this to you.
just a thought,
again enjoy your ride when it arrived
cheers;

Hi Mardy.

They did offer RORO and said it may get out later this month, however having just sold the Pajero, it's worth it for me to go container and have it earlier. :-)

So I have two choices.

a. Container
HYUNDAI PATRIOT
ETD: Apr. 21st, 2008
ETA: Apr. 30th (VANCOUVER)

or

b. RORO
NYK LInes
ETD: Apr. 20th, 2008
ETA: Apr. 30th (NEW WESTMINSTER)

Problem is that the RORO boat may not take the Delica because of the height (all depending on space).

The fellow who purchased our Pajero is coming down on the 25th to pick it up so I'll be without a vehicle for a week if I choose the container route.

If I choose RORO, I gamble at not making it on that boat (thus adding 1 or 2 weeks at least without having a vehicle (I need it for work as well) but save the destuffing fees.

I'm not in a gambling mood after IBC so I'll just go container as originally planned and get it at the end of the month.

Makes me happy :-D

Looks like the heaven's are shinning upon me today !

The IBC 2nd superexceed is on it's way.

There have been some mover's and shaker's working their majic in the background with IBC (the slowest exporter in the world) and they are putting all of our vehicles on the next boat. :-D Not sure exactly what prompted IBC to get on it (a few others have vehicles sitting in Japan for almost a year with them waiting for shipping), but it makes me happy.

Looks like I'll have two Delica's in a month which is unexpected.

I will have to decide which one to keep and which one to sell. arg !

Here's Marshmellow :

Getting close to crunch time.

Finishing taxes before end of month.

Sold condo. Have to do all the docs.

Packing/moving May 1st

Chamonix 'Granola' - May 3rd Hyundai Patriot via container

SuperExceed 'Marshmellow' - May 7th Green Cove via RORO

Going to be a busy 2 weeks.

I'll probably get all the mechanical trimmings done on Granola, inspection/reg and insure it.

The following week when Marshmellow gets in, I'll have him go through inspection and at that point decide which one to keep.

Thanks for answering my question there Jesse  . Granola is a twin to one arriving May 2 via World Spirit RORO - wanted to make sure they didn't mixed up ya know! And glad to hear color won't be the deciding factor on which is the 'chosen one' for your trip!

They both have pretty much the same stuff.

Icebox, LSD, good thick upholstery, 7 seating, high roof.

This is the first Chamonix I've seen with an icebox. All of the one's I've seen for sale here via private/dealers and in Japan don't have the icebox. Is this normal ? It's definitely a plus feature.

It's really a toss-up between the higher 2" inside clearance of the Chamonix versus the crystal roof.

Not sure yet.

But either which way, one of them will be on the market very soon. :? :-)

I've seen loads of delis sporting the hot / cold box up front. Most even. Whether or not that's a plus I suppose depends on your needs and wants. For me (6'5"), the extra foot room far out weighs having a hot / cold box I would seldom use. I agree it's got a certain novelty / cute factor going, but am happy not to have one - the portable cooler and camp stove serve us sufficiently . If Hazel came with a hot / cold box I am pretty sure removing it would be fairly high on the project list... :?
Love your name choices btw :M :-D

Both names were made up by Maryna upon seeing the Delica's for the first time.

Personally, I didn't like either but they both grew on me. I only want to keep one. She wants to keep both.

I'm sure when I see both, it'll be hard parting with either one of them.

I'm sure all of you know how it is having to part with a Deli.

And I haven't even gotten mine yet ! :-D

Granola (Chamonix) has arrived, been inspected and cleaned.

Snapped a few on my way home.

Just love it when you get a vehicle from Japan and there is no smell of smoke, zero signs of smoking and the ashtray and cig lighter have never been used. :-D

Just have to wait for Marshmellow to pickup on monday now :? :-D

Jesse

ps. A big thanks to Mardy. He is a great asset to this industry (importing) and really good with people & Delica's. :M
