Great van, long way to go.

Post by Jain »

I finally picked up my van, fresh from Jpn. back in December. Since then I've been trying to keep everything going and figure out how all the remote controls, toggle switches, and electronics work. My van is awesome but, man, is it ever confusing! The mud flaps fell off, the fender flares de-stuck, the inside door handle is peeling off, the radio doesn't work, the CD player doesn't work, the DVD player doesn't work, the GPS says I'm near Vladivostok, the karaoke doesn't work, the sunshades don't work, the fog lights don't work, but hey, I can kind of watch Oprah on the TV! Anyhow, finding all these odd bits and pieces is challenging. I've been contemplating installing a small trampoline to pop out of the door so I can get in more easily, the lift kit makes it more of an expedition than I thought - someone has suggested that I mount some climbing holds into the door frame. And, after tons of phoning and waiting I finally hooked up with a roof rack and ladder, took today off to pick it up, got out wads of cash, called "the person/company" who agreed to sell it to me, and guess what, they sold it. Apparently I can trust their word to get me another but now I'm not so sure. Guess I'm jaded. This is my jaded introduction. By the time I post a photo of my "jelly bean" I hope to be un-jaded!

Until then,
Jain

Wow! Sounds like you've got a lot of quite a handful there! Don't sweat it too bad... if you had the patience to go through the import process yourself, you've probably got enough to do the maintenance.

Welcome to the group and well met. :-D Can't wait to see a picture of your ride, especially since you've had it since December.

Did you confirm if your radio is hooked up? Mine didn't work so I pulled it out to realize no wires were connected. Put it all back together and realized why they weren't... The previous owner probably had an even better radio before selling it and just replaced it with another "ok" one that the display didn't work. Anyway, put one of my old radio and it's all good now. If it's an aftermarket radio, the karaoke won't work. It only works with the original radio.

For the rest just got to check fuses and connections/wires. Inside door handle as you described is common on bus with more mileage (or kept in intense heat).

But you got a lift kit... that should compensate for all the rest!
All the best!
