Hi there I am a recent owner of a Delica.
It has been sitting in my garage for roughly 2 weeks and now won't start.
I assume it's the battery, since nothing comes on.
My van is a 1992 Diesel... does anybody have any ideas where the
hood release is?
Thanks
Wolfgang

Re: Hood Release
The L300 (which is what you have) does not have a 'hood' in the sense you are probably thinking.
There is an engine cover, underneath the passenger seat, which is latched with two latches: one under the carpet behind the driver's left leg (right under the e-brake); and one under the carpet flap in the middle of the passenger seat. The one on the passenger's side not only has to be unlatched, but the latch has a safety to hold it in place which must be pulled up in order to open the cover.
After you've opened the cover, lift it upwards to the door post where you should find a strap. Use the strap to hold the cover open by looping it over the little catch on the side of the seat. Make sure the captain seat (if you have these) behind the passenger seat is out of the way or you'll not be able to lift the cover.
Sorry I don't have any pictures to point it out. Maybe someone else can come to the rescue.

Re: Hood Release
Okay Wolfgang, this is what you do...
First open the passenger side front door. Next you will notice that the carpet is draped from under the passenger seat ~ reach in past the passenger seat, the centre console and between the centre console and the driver's seat you will notice another draping of carpet. Underneath this piece of carpet is a metal latch ~ undo latch. Next, back in the passenger area of the cockpit, underneath the draped carpet there you will find another latch, you undo that one, too. This latch has a safety feature to it. Next you lift the passenger seat back with your right hand, by gripping it by the front of the seat (the part your knees would rest on) ~ as the left hand is holding open the safety feature of the passenger side latch.
Now, as you are lifting the seat back you will note a little black cleat where the fabric meets the metal on the side of the seat. This is what the "strap" hooks onto to hold the seat up (a hands-free feature that comes with the Delica). The strap you will find hanging from the same place the passenger seat belt shoulder strap is hanging from.
This is how to gain access to your engine, battery(s), radiator (& overflow). I hope this has been of service to you.
