AC issues

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

AC issues

Post by visotzky »

So, power is not getting to the compressor, I removed the glove box and checked fuses, all good. Then checked that power was getting to them when i turn on the switch, again all good (on both sides of fuse assemblies). When I hooked up the compressor directly to battery the compressor comes to life. No power to the connection at the compressor. So if by chance i was low on refrigerant, is there a safety that would cut the power? is there any other reason other than a bad connection that would cut the power?

Find the pressure switch, unplug and short the connector, if the clutch clicks in, you are low on refrigerant. I have no idea where it is, never looked. It will be on a line or on the receiver/dryer somewhere.

Ok I was out there so I looked for it. Lay cross ways under the front of the truck. Put your feet against the rf tire and your head stretching towards the other one. Now if you do a sit up so that your nose touches the bottom of the left front bushbar tube (6" in from the bumper or so) you should be looking at the connector. It is kind of tucked up high, has a rubber boot and 2 blue wires, one with a red tracer and another with a yellow.

Make sure the key is on, ac button on and fan on before you do it, otherwise you might think it wasnt working.

No that is for a fan but you are very close. Put your hand on that connector then move vertically up about 6", you will see a thin aluminum line that has the switch on it. The "connector" is basically a big rubber boot.

there seems to be a multitude of cutouts for the A/C... I haven't found them all yet, and have a similar problem to yours... I replaced the low-pressure cut-out, but something is still stopping my A/C from working... there's also a full-throttle cut-out someone else posted about in another thread (I may check that one next)

There should only be 2 wires (both are blue, but with different tracers), put a jumper across them.
