Anybody know what this is ?
Anybody know what this is ?
Noticed what looks like a little solenoid on the injector pump, missing the plunger.
Looks like full throttle should trigger it if it were there.
My guess is it's a full throttle sensor, might be the reason I get black smoke on the steep hills.
I'd appreciate any feedback.
Going to take a few pics of the wagon shortly and post them, maybe work on making a neat signature pic as well. Anybody got any suggestions for doing that.
Also came up with a name for it. The "Deli Llama", if no one is already using it. It's kind of a serene machine, my new Shangri-la.

That my friend, is the AC shut off when you go full throttle. I have noticed that it is damage or missing on several units. It basically shuts off the power to the AC when you are going at hight rev. So maybe monitor you AC when you are going up the Coquihalla highway.

Re: Anybody know what this is ?
Right on! I won't worry about it then. I can kind of see the logic behind it as the A/C takes some power away from the wheels. I would say especially on a very steep incline you might want all of the 86 horses. I can always just hit the A/C button on the dashboard if it comes down to that. I can also see where it would be annoying in stop and go city traffic as I find I pretty much put the pedal to the floor to get moving. In the 40+ degree days of summer here I would prefer not to have the A/C cutting in and out.

Re: Anybody know what this is ?
on a mildly related note...
does anybody have a wiring diagram for the A/C? there are cutouts and fuses and relays all over the place for it, and finding them all when you don't know what they are is a pain...
something is stopping my A/C from working right now, but I have no way of knowing what...

I see on another post you have checked a few things already. Have you tried applying power directly to the clutch?Green1 wrote:on a mildly related note...

Re: Anybody know what this is ?
power directly to the compressor works... but I would prefer to get things done properly...
I've got service manual sections for pretty much every part of the vehicle... except climate control, does ANYBODY have this part??

Well at least you know that the clutch is functioning fine. Sorry I do not have the climate control info, for the delica. When the clutch is given power do you get cold air, from the vents? When you turn the ac on do you get the power uptrim?

yes, everything works when you bypass all the electronics... the problem is I don't want to bypass everything!
Re: Anybody know what this is ?
you may want to check the refrigerant charge in your a/c system. a/c systems typically have a low pressure safety that prevents the compressor from running when the system is low on or out of refrigerant. usually it starts with the a/c cutting in and out as the pressure drops below the cut-out point of the switch and then as the pressure rises to the cut-in point it will start up again. as more refrigerant is lost eventually the pressure in the system will remain below the cut-out point and not come on at all. some systems may have a loss of charge switch as well or instead of which is situated in a different location in the system and only comes into play in the event of a partial or complete loss of refrigerant. a loss of charge switch will just cut-out and not allow the a/c to run until refrigerant is added to the system.Green1 wrote:on a mildly related note...

I think that God in creating Man somewhat overestimated his ability.

Re: Anybody know what this is ?
Let me start by saying that this is in no way a jab against you personally, it's just my growing frustration with the whole thing...you may want to check the refrigerant charge in your a/c system. a/c systems typically have a low pressure safety that prevents the compressor from running when the system is low on or out of refrigerant
<rant>
Apparently nobody has actually READ any of my posts, EVERYTHING that I can find is working properly, the refrigerant is full and brand new, the low pressure cutout switch is brand new and is working properly, the compressor works fine when power is applied to it, all 6 of the fuses behind the glove box are ok, as are all of the fuses in the main fuse box, the AC switch on the dash appears to work properly, and I know how to operate the AC system.
Does nobody have a diagram for this system???
The only component that could affect this that I know of and haven't checked yet is the full-throttle cut-out switch (just learned about it and will be checking it as soon as I have a few minutes to spare)
I don't want any replies to this message unless one of the following is included:
1) a diagram of this system
2) knowledge of a component not listed in that big long list above (and READ THE LIST!!!)
I appreciate everyone is trying to be helpful, but I have recieved at least a dozen different messages so far all asking me if I've checked the refrigerant levels or the compressor, I'm tired of hearing the same answer, and tired of people not even reading my actual question which is:
DOESN'T ANYBODY HAVE A DIAGRAM FOR THE A/C SYSTEM???
Sorry if this has come off as un-appreciative, I do appreciate the help, I'm just a little frustrated is all.

Green 1....
Have you checked the fuses???
SORRY, couldnt resist.

Re: Anybody know what this is ?
I for one would like to see more of the literature, manuals, how to posts, diagrams etc all posted in one spot. Or an index of some kind. I wonder if there is a simple way of doing that?
I spent so many hours searching the various forums for info, then couldn't find it again because I didn't bookmark some of it.
The UK Deli forums, Aussie forums, Pajero forums etc. all have some good stuff posted. But it's all here and there, willy nilly, mixed in with a lot of other not so essential information under irrelevant headings etc. Every day there are more and more posts to these forums and the labyrinth grows.
BTW, Green 1
It takes all of 2 seconds to disconnect the cutout at the throttle, there's a connector you can unplug just 6 inches down the wire from it. What else could it be?

the Wiki is the answer, people just need to get in the habit of putting their useful mod, fixes and info in there and it will be what your looking for.

Re: Anybody know what this is ?
I would like to ask a question. I know this is not allowed as per your rules above.... What is the system pressure reading on the low side of the system? I may be able to get a diagram for a mitsu montero when I go to work tomorrow. It may be similar enough with the components to allow you to see something that you have not checked yet. Are you interested in this information?Green1 wrote:Let me start by saying that this is in no way a jab against you personally, it's just my growing frustration with the whole thing...you may want to check the refrigerant charge in your a/c system. a/c systems typically have a low pressure safety that prevents the compressor from running when the system is low on or out of refrigerant

Re: Anybody know what this is ?
I don't remember at this point to be honest, but since the low pressure cut-out switch was replaced it is no longer the limiting factor, there is something else...What is the system pressure reading on the low side of the system?
I'm going to look at that full throttle cut-out as soon as I can stomach the weather outside...
As for a Montero diagram... That would be great actually!
Thank you!
