Sliding side windows wanted
I've only seen sliding side windows on 1 van out of the 50 or more I have looked at. What is the deal with them. Was this a rare option or what? I'd love to buy up some to put on my van. Does anyone have them of a parts vehicle they want to sell?

Make sure you keep your old one when you put the slidy in, as I've read they're prone to leakage.surfalia wrote:I've only seen sliding side windows on 1 van out of the 50 or more I have looked at. I want one too, so my dog can hang his head out the window instead of pathetically squeezing his nose in the crack ot the popout.
But those supposed reliability issues kept me on the fence so far.

Re: Sliding side windows wanted
Most of the models which are being imported are the 'higher' end models. Seems like the sliders were on the vans, the MMCs and the L300s. Or they were more readily available on the earlier models (pre-1990). All depends on what's being imported, I guess.

BTW, the van we are importing from Japan has 2 sets of sliding windows on it. I think it looks snazzy enough, and after driving a minivan with only pop outs in the back, our kids are looking forward to sliders. I ask the above question because if we get another deli, we would still want sliders.

We will be picking this van up early next week (not mine), and we're big fans of the plastic covers on each slider. They allow the window to be opened several inches without hurricane force winds inside at highway speeds. You might ask Mdrive, or such, if they can be obtained also.

Re: Sliding side windows wanted
If a van has sliding windows 'from new', then it will have them in the sliding door and on both rear windows on the drivers side. They put a solid one in the rearmost on the passenged side so that you didn't lose any arms when opening the sliding door! The Pinkfingers wrote:BTW, the van we are importing from Japan has 2 sets of sliding windows on it. The few in the UK that have converted (like myself) to sliding windows have tended to just swap the middle ones over and leave the rear two as 'pop outs' hence why you may see some photos with a 'mixture'.
I can't use the plastic covers on mine because they would have been ripped off within 5 mins of my first off-road outing in the Mud Monkey!
