Driveshafts on a front-wheel-drive is actually two with a transaxle (transmission and differential in one unit) - one for each wheel. That's probably why there is two magnets.robinimpey wrote:My thinking is that there needs to be two magnets on a front wheel drive vehicle because the drive shaft, which goes directly to the wheel, would be turning much slower than the drive shaft on a rear wheel drive vehicle which goes to the rear differential.

Hm, I wonder if you could use the signal coming from this thing in my post (once we all figure out what exactly this thing does, I noticed that you can see the same sensor in your first pic) as a speed pickup

Re: Installed Cruise Control
I suspect that wire is more related to an indicator for wheel lock than a speed pickup...

I think the speed sensor that was labeled in that pic was the magnetic pickup from the driveshaft?delica 304 wrote:Hm, I wonder if you could use the signal coming from this thing in my post (once we all figure out what exactly this thing does, I noticed that you can see the same sensor in your first pic) as a speed pickup

Hey Robin:
Do you remember what the dip switch setting were that you used? I have the same unit and I am having difficulty getting it to work......

Re: Installed Cruise Control
Switches 1 & 3 are ON and the rest are off. I had a bit of a time getting mine to go the first time too and don't even remember what all I did. I think it was just a matter of changing the switches. There is a little red led light by the switches that blinks and stuff and I remember driving down the road with my engine cover up so that I could see the light and if I remember correctly it would blink when it was ready and then go solid when the cruise was engaged.
Good Luck!

Re: Installed Cruise Control
Just a couple of questions for you Robin. What color is the wire you used to hook into to get the tach signal? Do you have an automatic? If you have an automatic have you selected the transmission into neutral while the cruise is engaged? The reason I ask this is I am hooking mine up to a Pajero with a 5 speed, the unit uses tack info to disconnect the cruise when you push in the clutch.
