Hi Mark,
Sorry to be a pain, but is there any chance of setting the board to open links in a new window or tab? It means you can flick through the new link while still having the original page open rather than having to click the back button (sometimes many clicks!) in order to return to the original thread...
Many thanks,
Bruce.

most browsers allow you to easily open links in a new window, I use firefox and I middle click to open all links in a new tab (shift-middle click to open the new tab in the background to check out later)

This is true, but I agree with Bruce that it is easier (and the default behavior on most site I visit) to have links open in new tab or window. Just my opinion though. :)

Re: Links open in new window?
personally I prefer links to open in the existing tab, if I want it to do otherwise I can always middle-click, but if it's set to open in new by default I can't tell it to do otherwise.
Re: Links open in new window?
Further to that, Firefox can be setup so that new pages always open in a new tab. Look under tools --> option --> tabs and select New pages should be opened in... a new tab.

Re: Links open in new window?
Hi Bruce -- this issue is now resolved (external links should open in new window). An exception relates to external link partners whose domains appear in the link directory (e.g., such as MDOCUK). These are are dealt with the same as internal links (and hence open in the same window). More info on this is provided in This Thread.
