Locked myself out of my Deli....
but I was at home so it wasn't too aggravating. What was a problem was that I only had one key for the van so of course I had to call BCAA.
I actually went to three different places to try to get a key cut but they all said they didn't have a blank that would work so i just phoned up the dealer and ordered the key by parts number.
Once the key arrived, i went to home hardware and they cut it for me, of course he was a little suprised to have someone bring in their own key blank but he cut it.
Eight dollars and change for the blank but what the heck i just spent 220.00 on a very nice limo tint for the windows, pictures coming as soon as i wash "The Sexy Beast". Marshmallow name was taken so once i saw her with tinted windows i changed the name.

Re: Locked myself out of my Deli....
Right on, Andre!
I went to Trygg and they had a number of Mitsubishi key types and I had two made in the event of the "unthinkable". Cost me something like three bucks. But if it makes you feel any better, I was crossing a washed out culvert and managed to impale the side wall of my rear right tyre.... AND I did it in front of three other Delicas..... they consoled me, told me that I was just "cutting my teeth"...... Although they also mentioned that the slit was "three inches", one stuck his knife in the hole and wanted a picture, another was snapping all sorts of pictures.... Ultimately ~ I felt stupid ~ but hey, life occurs!... smiles.

Re: Locked myself out of my Deli....
I got a blank from MardyDelica, he has good ones.
But what I REALLY wanna know is HOW you locked yrself out? There's a preventer thingy so only can lock from driver door with a key.
So far, touch wood, I haven't managed to do it on Delica, but as Long-Suffering Jay knows (& BCAA) stuff happens with me and keys.
Christine.

Re: Locked myself out of my Deli....
on mine it's the standard "idiot lock" meaning that all you have to do to lock yourself out is hold the handle while closing the door, something that very quickly becomes second nature as it is easier than fumbling with the keys in the lock. But what I REALLY wanna know is HOW you locked yrself out? There's a preventer thingy so only can lock from driver door with a key.
I have only once seen a vehicle that truly prevented this behaviour, and that was my mercedes which would not allow the door to be locked while in the open position period.
personally I use the remote from my alarm to lock/unlock the doors, it severely decreases the chances of locking the keys in the vehicle as I never use the locks on the doors themselves.

I can lock mine by holding the door handle open, no key required.TardisDeli wrote:I got a blank from MardyDelica, he has good ones.

Re: Locked myself out of my Deli....
Hmmm, mine definitely doesn't let me lock door without keys. Thank Goodness. (just the usual exceed model, no remote install, anyway I am glad it works). Thanks for the warning, I shall be sure to leave a spare deli key in the house (the door has a combination beep lock, no keys). Christine.

Re: Locked myself out of my Deli....
Having a spare wired up under the vehicle in some grim, hard to reach spot is a thought too - it's always right there should one have the misfortune of getting locked out far from home. Remember the magnetic "Hide-a-Key" boxes?I shall be sure to leave a spare deli key in the house

I always keep a spare in my wallet's change compartment (don't keep change in it, however) and it's saved me a couple times already.

Re: Locked myself out of my Deli....
I've always keep a spare key in my wallet, and I am sure that it is for this reason alone that I have never had to use it... had it not been there I'm sure I would have needed it many times.
