Re: Should I stay or should I go??? Pls advice
Both are listed for same vehicle ( Mitsubishi Van ) just Beck-Arnley buy in Japan in bulk . Beck-Arnley usually supply exactly what you get from the dealers (different box) for most asian vehicles but these cylinders are not the same . I offer a warranty with everything I do in the shop and therefore will not settle for second best in parts just to make the job cheaper . It `fits` does not cut it when it comes to safety of consumers only profit comes from this attitude towards selling parts . I need reassurance that parts are correct for the application before installing and standing by the part . Before I will supply Beck-Arnley `similar` cylinders I will extensively test them in one of our Delicas before commercially installling them and risking the consumers vehicle and life .

Many service shops do not follow your code of ethics in the automotive industry.
Looking forward to the results.
On a small side note, the north american spec for the Montero front brakes are identical.

Front brakes are Montero but the ball joints are different ?? Pajeros do share the same ball joints and brakes .

Balljoints are the same as the GenI Montero. I have a set of uppers on.
GenII Pajero (1991+) have larger knuckles. Same as the L400 94+ Delica's, so those won't fit.
What I had on mine.
Montero 1988 calipers/pads/rotors
What I now have
Montero 1988 upper balljoints
Montero 1992 calipers/pads/rotors (with the trim mod)
I cross checked the part #'s/CAPS and the rotors are the same between GenI and GenII.
The calipers/mounting brackets and pads are different between the two Gen's.

`88 Monteros upper ball joints are not the same as Delicas ?? They list a press in ball joint for Gen1 . Here is a picture .

Wierd. That's not what I've got.
I ordered upper balljoints from the US for an 88 and got identical replacements for the one's that came on the Delica from japan.
I think it's would be best to give this advice to people.
Do not buy montero parts unless you a) work/own a shop and are able to match/test the parts or b) know that 'said' part is compatible.
Also like Glen said. Just because it 'looks' the same, does not mean it's a compatible part.
Internal components may differ from one automotive component to another while their outside appearance may be identical.
