Wobbly captain seats

Post by Delicagibsons »

Does anyone know where the centre swivel bolt is on the middle seats? Both my seats are loose at the point where they swivel and I just wondered if I remove the seat where it's bolted at the floor and get to it there from underneath or do I remove the seat from under the cushions and access it that way from the top. I assume it's fairly simple to tighten them up...anyone done this? Thanks....Steve

Hi Steve,

The biggest lesson I have learnt from Delica's is NEVER assume that any jobis simple! :?

As usual and like all other parts of the Delica, the Japs have typically over engineered the seat mechanisms!

One of my best friends produced THIS GUIDE on MDOCUK a while ago showing how to fix the wobbly seats. I was going to produce the guide myself, but was a bit too busy at the time and Mark took the reins and did a fantastic job... :D :D

It probably takes about 1 - 2 hrs to do the complete job (buy the washers beforehand) depending on how good you are with spanners?

If you DO feel competent with a socket set and screwdrivers, why not have a go at this little mod I created a few years back:

A mod that locks your captains seat at 90 degrees..... :D :D

A fair bit of work, but it has come in SO handy for camping trips etc....

(or if you are REALLY lazy, the perfect 'Lazy Boy' for fishing from!  )

Regards,

Bruce.

just a side note translation. spanners = wrench or adjustable wrench.

OK..That makes sense. I think maybe the mod on the locking mechanism might have to wait till the days are longer. thanks...Steve

Hey Bruce,
I'm new to the Delica family. Just got mine a few weeks ago.
In the past few weeks, I have been reading all your posts, from all over the place. You are the Delica master. I am so glad you're out there for the rest of us.
I would love to chat with you some time, you sound like a really interesting person, and one with an infintie amount of knowledge I could selfishly glean.
Hope to hear from you sometime.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the kind comments...

PLEASE make it to the meet next month then....(Details HERE) I'll be flying over for it so it would be a good opportunity to meet up & chat.....and as some on here already know - I'm always up for a chat about anything & everything Deli! :D :D

I'm not going to be taking excuses about 'we live too far away' because I'll be flying halfway around the world to make this one.....so I look forward to seeing you there! :P :P :P (I understand if you really can't make it, but I'll still do my best to make you feel guilty!    )

Nice website BTW - some seriously cool work you've done and you've certainly got the eye for a good shot! 8) Puts my cheap digital camera shots to shame! :?

Best wishes,

Bruce.
