DELI TATS

Post by stubblebut »

Vinyl, decals, stickers or airbrushed designs. I've seen some great tats in this forum and others from the minimalist mitsumaple to the full outlandish styles of the Philipines. I know you got them so show 'em off!

<<edit: My intention is to consolidate photos and experiences found elsewhere throughout the forum here. For those of us that appreciate the artist found in all of us and the art and design inspired by our Delis>>

OK, I've posted pictures of all of Hazel's sticker "tats" elsewhere, but here is one of Jo's that was delica inspired...

This is the only coin, and best treasure, we found from Hazel's past life in Japan.

We took the coin to Frenchman Tattoos here in CR and he translated it into tattoo and put it on her arm.

My friend who is in Australia for a year rented this camperized L-400 for road trip. Poor thing. It IS an L-400 after all (sorry Drooper  ), but still, it's a pretty nasty thing for any deli to endure!

When I was in Autralia last years I saw tons of these painted rented vans. It's a pretty cool gig! Whoever is doing it seems to buy these older van, mostly Toyota, give them a funky paint job and rent them out. People (lot's by surfing spots) rent them and live/travel in them. It's a good concept! Haven't seen any painted Delica...

Okay.

The best "Delitat" that I have seen, at least with a passionate message was when the TardisDeli and Miss Lil' Bitchi went to Camp CC on our way to Snow Creek. It was a simple message but to the point and I related to it at on the spot. It read:

If I Am Going To Hell ~ I'm Going To Hell In A Delica.

Falco.

Do you mean stickers that came with the Deli from overseas or things we've applied to our vans ourselves? Cuz Juniper has plenty of the latter and none of the former...

Juniper's "tatts" and assorted body adornments...
windshield middle top -- 23 chaos star

passenger side column -- mitsumaple

passenger side back window -- Live to Surf (a deceiving sticker... I've never surfed and Ruby hasn't been in the water in over two years, though she does own a hot pink squashtail and a wetsuit... we dream though, hence the sticker...)
livetosurf.jpg
livetosurf.jpg (185.49 KiB) Viewed 7528 times
back window -- there's a KONA sticker on the mirror that's a lil difficult to see, lower left hand corner a band sticker for Aussie group The Beautiful Girls (they're like a kinder, gentler Jack Johnson) and upper right a Dave Matthews Firedancer sticker (Ruby loves her some Dave, all the ladies do) and in the middle a Cthulhu sticker of me own design, cuz yo! I gots ta represent R'lyeh.
back.jpg

drivers side back window -- Soundwave 08 sticker, music festival up in Ucluelet we went to this summer... we like the slogan and the VW is a nice homage...

inside back crystal-lite roof -- the ambassadors of Free Country USA... Strong Bad and the Homestar Runner!

hangin from the rear view & dashboard, right side -- we figure as long as yer piloting several tons of metal, glass and flammable liquids at high speed, it's wise to have some kinda death fetish in sight to offset the possibility of catastrophe... also, the eyes light up when you pull the skull down on it's string... useful as a magic-8-ball style divination device! On the right, Juniper's spiritual allies, the Iron Giant and Ganesh... we feel it helps to have the Opener of the Way present in the vehicle. Clears traffic, smooths roads. Yeah. I feed it candy.

Cheers for that! :-D

But seriously, poor thing how can something like that be done to a deli (be it a 400 or a 300) in a country that produces some of the best looking deli's I have seen?!?!

What she used to have:

Which just had to go!

But now she has these

The first ones where Yellow Diamonds on the tailgate and windscreen

Then she got this

And the latest addition courtesy of Bruce on the roofcrate

There are some more to come i.e a couple of Metal Monkeys ones, but got a few more bits to do first
