Not everyone may be aware, but the BC Government has recently signed an agreement with Google to provide 24/7 access to a large amount of geographic information the government stores. For more information see:

I think it is a great thing. The information is all public information and should be available to the public. It also includes layers for forestry roads and rec sites which could help people plan back road trips. It allows people in the world to see what BC is doing on its managed land base. I will also use it for work, some of the information available for free on Google is not available to my employers (the largest forest company in Canada), even though we pay for a lot of it and provide a lot of it.
