Dim headlights... replacement recommendations...?

Can anyone recommend a replacement for my headlights which are waaaaaay too dim? Is there a certain brand of bulb that's considerably brighter that I can swap out for the existing ones, or is it more beneficial to change the entire housing unit & everything? Anyone else have this prob.? Suggestions? Thanks, Abe.

PIAA are bright but expensive.

And, yes, make sure they are aimed correctly. The projector headlights have an unusual (to North Americans) illumination pattern.

my biggest suggestion is just to make sure they are aimed correctly, if they aren't you'll be using the edge of the beam instead of the centre to drive by, making them appear much dimmer than they really are, many people complain about the dim lights on the delica, but I've found that they are no worse than any other vehicle I've ever driven, as long as they are aimed properly.

Take a look at the DEPO headlights, it's the full housing and comes with bulbs. It's not cheap, around $230 or so for both but they will make a world of difference.

I've compared one with the other common one (can't remember the name) side by side and it was obvious.

The next step up is to go with HID, I've done it but I don't think I'd recommend it. It's much brighter but it comes with a cost and the fitting isn't optimal.

Yup, I given some thought to selling my current set and replacing with a DEPO set as I've heard they project better. I believe at least one of the more notable delica fixers has switched to DEPO. I've replaced mine with PIAA bulbs and had them adjusted professionally -with minimal improvements. I've got a relay and wiring partway installed, but not holding my breath that it would make a vast improvement.

the non depot lights can have bad adjusters, mine did and as low as you could adjust them the centre of the beam was not really visible, ccautos replaced the adjusters with stock mitsu ones and they are great now, he did also put 100w bulbs in that are brighter than the piaa ones I had in there.

Hi, the depo is much better as they made a better lense than the other one. as david say & thru my experience on this deli, even you change higher bulb or watts from the other one, still you dont have a better light as the lense they put on the other brand is not a re-fined lense they made. so there is a big difference hope this help.
if you need depo headlight, i have now in stock, for $ 225 a Pair.

For sure Abe go with the Depo's, the optics are very good. And if you want to really have the nice set up put in the PIAA bulbs, I used them for low beam only, cause kind of expensive for hi beams too, but your option. Also use a good quality DRL module. The Canadian tire ones are a bit on the cheap side. I used a Grote module, twice as much $, but I have had no light issues, they are plenty bright and no reliabilty problems.

I know Mardy has them.

The wiring to the headlights is a bit on the thin side, so if there's any corrosion, ground problems or wire damage you won't get much juice to the lights. If you have a multimeter you can check the voltage at the headlights and compare that to what it is at the battery. If it is your wiring new headlight pods won't do much to help.
