A/C Not working
I have a 1990 deli with no running AC. The compressor and the cooling fan do not run. I have checked the fuses. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or where i could find a link. Thanks

the usual problem stems from a lack from refridgerant. What caused this is usually a problem to figure out. Sometimes the system had been flattened in Japan prior to shipping but if bought locally then take it back to your seller for repair. There are refridgeraants on the market to replace yours and can be added to your system cheaply.
Ideally you need to evacuate your system and refill but first trace your lines out an dlook for obvious build ups of oily surfaces and dirt that indicate a leak. Search the Delica site for A/C, and other terms and you will find much info about it. The elecrical associated with your a/c is an enigma but just as difficult initially as tracing out the front and rear a/c tubing. I'm in Coquitlam if you want to stop by. It's best to do a hands on with someone familiar with the location of all components.
At the very least you'll only need cooling for a few more weeks but your defrost won't work well till the system is recharged. Steve Haas at A/C supercharge recharged mine. He has a mobile shop out Coquitlam and uses chill FX refridgerant available at KMS Tools. Contact him at 604 977 3828. He charged me about $145 which worked out cheaper than me buying the toolls and fittings needed to charge the system myself. That was a good deal.
Reply if you want to stop by and I'll show you where everything is located.

I know this might seem simple, but make sure the Belt is attached, It may have been removed.

The A/C system has several things that could stop it from working, things to check:I have a 1990 deli with no running AC. The compressor and the cooling fan do not run. I have checked the fuses. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or where i could find a link. Thanks
-refrigerant levels, the A/C won't run if there is no pressure, this could be a leak, or simply 15 years of time (or a sensor problem)
-belt, if it's not there, or slipping badly you won't be able to get A/C
-compressor, sometimes they're toast, if it's seized things won't work
-full-throttle cut-out, if your foot is to the floor the A/C cuts out to give you more power, if that switch is misbehaving the A/C won't work.
-dash switch, in and lit green is "on" out and orange is "off" (the reverse of the rear fan switch where orange is on and green is off), again, if it's misbehaving nothing works...

Is there a belt to the compressor?jellybean wrote:I have a 1990 deli with no running AC. The compressor and the cooling fan do not run. I have checked the fuses. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or where i could find a link. Thanks
Does the belt spin, but not the pulley on the compressor? Seized compressor.

Wow what a response! Thanks for all the input. I have since talked to a mechanic o the phone and he thinks it is low coolant pressure as well. The belt is on and the compressor is not siezed because i can spin it by hand.
I may call Steve Haas that Wayne mentioned.
I love this site thanks everyone and i will let you know how it turns out.
