OD problem?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

OD problem?

Post by KA43 »

Hi Delica.CA drivers,

.. Does anybody notice this?

Last week, I was keenly observing and counting the number of gears while the Delica’s auto-box was in the process of shifting gears. Just out of my curiosity, when the auto-box was yet on the 3rd, intentionally switch-off the OD switch; to my surprise the auto-box returns to 2nd gear. Did this several times but it posed the same result.

I was made to understand that OD is the 4th gear of my DELICA, switching it off means I am only limited to the 3 gears but I am now wondering why is this.

Is this a problem ? or maybe it is another thing a DELICA can do.

Can anybody confirm?

Thanks,

If you're at a very low RPM in 3rd gear and turn off OD, it will kick down into 2nd depending on how your kick down cable is adjusted.

On mine I've noticed that when I hit the OD button in 3rd it will unlock the torque converter, causing the revs to increase like it shifted into another gear, but not as high as if I dumped it into 2nd.

this is likely it, as I have my kickdown discoed and it does the same thing.
