2wd and 4wd delicas
I was in Japanoid today and browsing through some stuff. On a VHS cover I saw two pictures: one of a 4wd and the other a 2wd delica L300. The 4wd delica was parked on some dirt and grass. The 2wd delica was on a road beside a fancy lawn.
Seeing it was a Mitsubishi video, I assume both delis were stock. What I noticed was the 2wd had no bush bars or any bars (under sliding door, for example). It also sat much lower, had fancy rims, and a color scheme I've not seen before: Gold over white (not tan, not brown, not the same "gold" color some owners call their color here). It actually looked good. It was a Crystalite roof.
I'm not saying I want to switch, but I won't snicker any more when people talk about 2wd delis. This one would look great lowered.
Wish I could post the pic, but it was on the cover, and I can't find the same one on the web.

That is pretty neat looking. I have to agree with the other comment, a 2WD would look awesome lowered, put in a hydraulic kit for effect and a big-tub-thumping stereo...docsavage wrote:Here is 2wd camper car DelicA seen in Smithers recently:

I saw a similar looking beige color (one tone) Delica in North Van. The artwork was different, with red stripes.

Re: 2wd and 4wd delicas
It's funny, because the 2wd's are actually very common in Australia - my grandfather has a camper like the one above!
They're almost so common they have a little bit of a stigma attached to them, in that they are just a "boring" van. They were never sold as delica's though, and never had the crystalite roof, nor the tricksy bits you get with the Deli's. We only got a small amount of 4wd ones, and they were essentially just the work vans on a 4wd drive train, pretty sure they weren't diesel either.
Still, a lot of people have lowered them and put big rims on them, as seems to be the wont for some folks with white work vans in Aus these days. Some look good, others are just a bit silly!
When I'm back in Aus in October I'll try and get some shots of his camperised interior, see if can give you guys some ideas when doing your conversions.

How about these?

They look pretty cool, not sure about the colour of the first one but the white one is o.k.

Re: 2wd and 4wd delicas
There are lots of commercial L300 vans around overseas.
I remember an episode of Stingers (Australia) where the bad guys carjacked a commercial L300 and we got to see it up close. Gas engine, stick shift, 2WD, a load bay in the back, very basic trim level.
