Thanksgiving Trip to Okanagan

Post by jrman »

Just a quick overnighter to fix some things at Mom's house prior to winter. Had some time to run up to the KVR Myra Canyon and check out the rebuilt tressels (sp?) after the fires of 2003. Happy to report that rebuild is very well done - certainly better than expected. I biked the KVR from Rock Creek to Merrit in 2001 - and must admit that the barren landscape of the Myra Canyon does at least lend itself to much better views.....well, till the forest comes back in earnest anyway.

The Myra Canyon is certainly the most impressive part of the KVR (except for maybe the Quintette Tunnels near Hope) and this is a great 12km bike ride (each way - 24 Km round trip if wishing to see all 18 tressels).

Hi jrman,

Nice photos. The KVR Myra Canyon Trail is already on my list of things I have to do in BC.
I like your bike rack. Where did you get it from? Would it be strong enough for two heavy downhill bikes?

Cheers

Nice pics, jrman. Looks like they did a great job on those tressels. The wife and I really need to bike that part of the KVR one of these weekends! Oh, and your Delica looks bad ass too :M

Tks - still tinkering away here and there - but the Roughrider AT's and Pro-Comp Rims are the latest addition. Motivated by Bruce Mystery Machine / Adrock / and a fellow no longer "Delicanized" by the name of Mitch - he's also the guy who did up a steer horn style bike rack for my rig which you can see at the following post - http://www.delica.ca/forum/bike-racks-989.html . I carry 2 downhill bikes all the time - and have had 3 family bikes on this setup - but not recommended just because it took so long to coordinate. Here is his website too - http://www.bikeartist.ca/about.htm - Mitch was interested in doing more on a fee for service basis of course at one time. Check out his website and shoot him an email if interested. He got mine done on about 3 beers, some cash, and I really enjoyed checking out his "studio" so to speak.

Have attached a photo of Mitch's ride - not sure who has it now....oh, and another rugged deli....I like the "rougher" looking machines I guess.

Ooooo, I like that gnarly green machine with the "Batu Caves" sign! Note the limestone cliff in the background :-) And the shots of your Okanagan adventure are great too, thanks for the posts :M :-D
