Brakes

Post by patty »

I was just wondering. If you were to change the break-pads before you actually needed too, like at 30% or what ever would it lower the risk of needing new calipers and brake shoes?

Calipers - no they can get damaged by careless brake technicians (rubber boots) and rust up, so there's a little more risk for them by changing more often, but you'll be sparing the rotors a little by avoiding possible scoring from running out of brake pad. Shoes are on the rear and should wear at the same rate regardless of changing the front pads.
