"Install Front and Rear Markers"

Does that mean reflectors or marker lights?

Delica Compliance Package

Post by jrman »

Green1 - can you post some photos of your side market lighting?
I've never seen this on a deli - just the side reflectors that are applied to pass inspection.
How is it so many pass inspection if they are not effectively "legal"?
Seems the system isn't functioning so well if so many delis are non-compliant in this regard.
Photos please & thank you!

Hello

The front side light pod needs to be illuminated. Green 1 has a good link (IThnk) of how it can be done. Basically a marker light must be seen from the side, front and back. Stock the deilca is fitted with a light that comes on when the turn signal of the respective side is turned on. Sort of like a light to enable the driver to see more in the direction of the turn etc, this seems to be a common feature on truck in Japan. So... if you don't have a side marker light you can 1 do what green 1 did, 2 do what can tire does (drill a hole and add a frigging light pod on the out side) don't get me started...
or 3 take the wire from the font marker splice a wire to it, then cut the power to the light mentioned above and solder them together. Replace the white bulb with an orange bulb. Done and done!

I am sure there has to be a link for this... right?

The law states that vehicles must have side marker lights and reflectors, both front and rear (amber front, red rear) The delica already has red visible from the sides at the rear due to the wrap around nature of the tail lights, however you must add amber lights at the side on the front to pass OOP inspections in both Alberta and BC. Reflectors must also be added front and rear, however all 4 (2 amber and 2 red) can be purchased as a set for $10 at cdn tire.

there are a few ways to do side marker lights, most importers seem to use a combination reflector/light module that they attach to the side of the vehicle (though maxoverdrive is implying that he does not do this which would make the vehicle illegal in both BC and Alberta)
the second way, and my preferred option is to get just the cheap reflectors, and convert the side turn signal repeater light to act as a side marker light as well. for detailed instructions see the following post:
http://www.delica.ca/forum/side-marker- ... html#p2520
After the conversion the side turn signal repeater stays on solid with the parking lights, but still flashes when you activate the turn signals. I think this looks better than stock, and is cheaper and easier than wiring a completely new light.

(just a side note, in the post I linked above I have pictures of the end result on my Delica that show the side marker light, the reason you don't see a reflector on there is because I added them immediately after that picture was taken.)

Tks Green1 - as they say, pictures say a thousand words. The importer set mine up right then and I didn't know that the turn signal which is now on all the time as a "running" light was only on during signaling when operating in Japan. So I am "all good" as they say!
I also have the reflectors too.
Tks again,

Can you post the specs on the lights that you offer? I am trying to find lights that will comply with Manitoba Public Insurance.

I have a post about my issue here if anyone is interested.
