Hi there.
Inspired by others i got my system put together finally ! Here are a few shots while i was putting it together. I like this setup because it is simple and does not take up very much room.I should be able to de-water and clean down to less than 1 micron. I am flitering it though a pillow case to start with and then letting the centrifuge do the rest.

Also now if anybody wants or need wvo in the langley/ surrey /cloverdale area just let me know. I wont be running it in my vehicle yet so i will sell any that i have processed...

It looks like the little black square on the end of the motor, the one with the hoses going into and coming from it. I think it's similar to the setup I want to get - what's the name of the device?
The centrifuge is inside the tank. I figured i could put the lid on and keep contaminants out for storage of the oil after it gets spun !
I went on the dieselcraft website and looked at what they use in the kits they sell. Then i went to princess auto and built a far less glossy looking version.
Parts list would be:
Dieselcraft centifuge
15 ft of 300 psi 3/8 hose
55 gallon drum
pressure relief valve...........(i am still working on this because the one i got does not go down far enough i.e. too high psi)
1/3 horse fernace motor
2.3 gallon/min gear pump (haldex brand)
1200 watt band style heater.
5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut off. (i already have a problem with the pillow case cloging after only 12 gallons of oil !! The oil i get is very clean too. I will have to figure something better out.)
A bunch of fittings and valves.
I will help out anybody in the surrey langley cloverdale whiterock area putting a oil cleaning station together. I am no expert but i will be able to save you hours of time that i wasted going back and forth to the store !!!

i use a 5 gallon bag paint strainer from home depot. it looks like no-see-um netting. when ive poured 200 liters through it i can just shake it out and use again and again...
I just need to get the oil down to 400 mic. before i run it through the centrifuge. I will get the pail strainers from delicat and also try the paint pail strainer trick too !! thanks for the input.
I bought a couple of these 100 micron 55 Gal drum filters from Utah Biodiesel. They work great, I've filtered 1000s of litres of oil through them and I'm still on my first one.
I'm sure if you look hard enough you could find a Canadian supplier and save some $$ on shipping and the exchange rate, but I was happy paying close to $50 for a pair of these.
david has the ez strainers for 5 gallon buckets. I will try those. I think you are right adam. Those look like the way to go. I don't think i have seen anyplace in canada that distributes the EZ strainers. Looks like we need to step up as a club and become the
Canadian suppliers !! The thing that sucks is tat the are 14 bucks on e-bay.com and then another 15 bucks to ship it to my U.S. address!!

No, they aren't slow at all. I was worried about that as well when I purchased them, I was considering getting a 200u and maybe a 400u to stack then pour through all of them. Glad I didn't. The 55Gal strainers are deep enough to hold an entire cube, so I just pour it in as quickly as I can and by the time a bend down to get the next cube it has mostly drained. The only oil that didn't do this was very heavily used and burnt looking oil from A&W.
I normally pour 100-200 litres through the strainer at a time, and all that is left is a bit of chip bits and batter. 100u is definitely the size to go for. You might have to pour slower with the 5Gal version, but I'm sure it will be way better than the pillow case method.
Don't you clean your strainer at all? I've been cleaning mine after each 55 gallons fill up. (just a quick rinse using a hose with hot water). I tried not cleaning it at first but it got really messy and slowed down the process but maybe if you don't clean it it slows it down a bit but might actually provide better filtering! Just curious, let me know...

id go in on a purchase of 100u easy strainers. im in powell irver, but i guess getting it here from LM is pretty cheap...
