Don't look :? don't look at him :? maybe he won't see me :?

Actually, I really couldn't help myself, because as I was about to pass him, he wondered aloud "Who the h311 would buy one of these danged things?" and I pointed to the Moon Machine and said "That one's mine". :-)

Ya, what happened to you guys? Where were you? Maybe next time...

Photos of the meet are contained in the following album: http://www.delica.ca/Photos/thumbnails.php?album=94. Someone else will have to add some shots of the people. I was busy getting shots of the vehicles and talking with the 'crazies'.

It was just one of those "hang out at home" days for us. Maybe next time, or next camping trip! Spring is just around the corner -- really, it is!!

I had a great time and it was great hooking up with Mararmeisto again. I always sleep well at his place. The next day we went to the Cenotaph, then on to the meeting place.

Image

I met some new people and I got to see Delica 304, whom I had not seen in a while and talked to him about camera systems. He has some cool mods on his Starwagon.

I was having a great time when Mararmeisto reminded me of the time, so off I drove up the Malahat, seeing the odd Delica en route. The weather went from a mildly misty evening to a downright oily dark stormy night by the time I arrived Glen's door, pounding on it like a character out of an Edgar Allan Poe novel. Now you know how it is when two Delica enthusiasts get together and start talking, alas the time flies like knives. The weather was about the same but windier on my way to Departure Bay. There was a lot of water on the road and my sails were trimmed so I took it easy. "Drive Accordingly" is what I say, better to arrive late than not arrive at all. I arrived at at Departure Bay just past nine and I had just missed a boat. Ah..... I had just missed the LAST boat to Horse Shoe Bay. Humph. So south I drove to Duke Point in hopes of catching a boat there. I am in luck, there is one more ferry and it leaves in just under three hours......... Oh joy! So up comes the Starcraft (in my Starwagon) Expansion edition on my laptop. The Terren are hitting me with nukes so I sent in some covert Dark Temples to sabotage there weapons systems when all of a........ Oh.... the other couple of cars are loading.

Image

The Queen Of Vancouver. She is eerily empty and I sense I am on a ghost ship. I donned my toque and oil skin and headed up to the sun deck for a smoke and soaked in the night time atmosphere at an intense velocity. I thought back on this Remembrance Day and how my father fought in the Second World War for my right to equality. I pondered this for a while when I realised that I was losing feeling in my fingers and would not be allowed in the warmth if I wanted to smoke. It cannot be said that this world does not have it's sense of irony.

Image

I wandered down past the empty echoing cabins of a world gone by. I would try to catch a couple of winks in the driver's seat.... The breeze breathed her loving kiss through the outstretched branches of the apple trees in the warm sunny vale...... CRANK< SCREECH>CRASH...... "ALL PASSENGERS DRIVING MOTOR VEHICLES SHOULD RETURN TO THE VEHICLE DECK NOW. THANK YOU FOR FOR SAILING WITH BC FERRIES." I had made it to the mainland. Now all I had to do was drive home to the North Shore.

Nice pictures - I totally gapped on the meet (sorry) - had a much needed holiday sleep-in, lit a fire, didn't drive anywhere - the leaves fallen on my parked rainsoaked Delica.....it was a mellow one

k8bloomer, you can make the next one... in a couple of weeks' time. Probably the first or second weekend of December, before everyone disappears for the holidays.

Steve, Steve, Steve..... Where the hell were you??

Thank-you for the cudoes, I have been getting creative with the pictures, to be sure, but if you want to see really good pictures you ought to check out Profister's post's, he is really good. He can also tell you why, where I am more sort of hit & miss. As for the award for attending ~ I think that should go out to all those remarkable Delica driver's out there that make the trips so worth the while.

I would also like to thank my producers, who made all this possible  and most of all I would like to acknowledge the Miss Lil' Bitchi, without whom none of this would be possible........
