stereo install

Post by brewskie »

Just wiring up my harnesses and noticing a few rouge wires that I cant seem to figure out. Orange with white stripe (pos dimmer) and Orange (illumination) both coming from the Mitsu harness. Any ideas as to where they go.

Cheers

Well......I just wired them up with the ignition wire. Seems to be working fine. Can't believe how easy the whole thing was actually. Hopefully I don't run into any troubles.

Cheers

Usually 'illumination' goes to the one side of the vehicle lights, so when you turn on your lights (and the interior lights come on), the stereo illumination dims a bit. Check this post for further details: http://www.delica.ca/forum/radio-wiring ... -3830.html

Also, there is a standard harness plug that will work for these vehicles: a 1991 Dodge Colt (which was actually a Mitsubishi Galant). See this page for further details: http://www.delica.ca/forum/lets-see-if- ... tml#p26482

Hope this helps...

I used a harness brand called Metra bought at my local car audio shop. It is for Mitsubishi/Dodge/Plymouth between 1987 - 96. All the wires worked out great other than these two.

usually the dimmer isn't necessary, but as Paul said, they can be used. Newer decks usually have a brightness setting anyhow so I go into the harness and pop the pins along with their lead completely out of the harness, nice and clean....don't forget to cut to length, solder and heat shrink em! (nobody likes short circuits)
