New in the game
I'm pretty new at the Delica "thing". I've seen this vehicle around and I am very serious about purchasing one.
Q .... Could anyone assist me in how to locate camperized versions .... presuming they exist.
If they don't, does anyone know if modifications are relatively easy, or am I "building" a camper.
Thanks, B

Talk with jfarsang - he just got his after searching high and low. Apparently a company in Germany camperized about 500 of them back in the day. It's a similar sort of setup as the Westfalia company did to the VW Type II.

Met a fellow from Pender Island last year that had a pop top. ALso seen one in Calgary.
In Japan you can also obtain a 2WD 2.8l Diesel Toyota HiAce Camper Van that would cost $13,000.00 when landed in Vancouver such as this one which still apparently has the two guys in lab coats that probably succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning:

Re: New in the game
I think they are trying to display how big the beds are, but when you remember that the Japanese aren't really famous for being extremly tall it doesn't really say much for the size of the beds!

Re: New in the game
I've seen the current model HiAce on overseas trips - they are a strange looking beast.
I'm currently working my way through Sea Patrol series 2 on DVD (a very good aussie naval drama; series 2 has a sexy new boat playing HMAS Hammersley), and their favourite crew transport on shore are HiAce vans http://www.toyota.com.au/hiace decked out as minibuses.

Drooper,
Who said Japanese aren't known to be really tall? Wonder how this little guy with funny sandals would fit in that truck?!?

Um, David... I'm not sure you should be the one to 'measure up' whether someone else is tall... I'm not saying you're short... it's just...delicat wrote:Drooper,

Anyway, he really doesn't look much bigger than me.

Glad you have a lifted Delica to pack around a gang of friends that size. (Sumo is on the TV every other day here)
