Firstly, thanks Garyo for the beefy rear shackles!
It's a pretty simple job:
-Jack the rear end.
-Remove the original shackles.
-Disconnect the brake line from it's bracket behind the (automatic) rear fuel tank.
-Disconnect the bottom of both rear shocks from the axle.
-Install the new shackles.
-Install new shocks that are 2" longer.
-Or, as in my case; install a temporary 2" spacer under the shocks until your new shocks arrive.
-Bleed your brakes.
-ENJOY
Here's a few pictures:
This is Garyo's shackles, TOUGH! New vs Old. 2" spacer (temporary). I've changed the bolt attaching to the axle with a high strength one (not on picture) This is the bracket that needs to be by-passed so that the extra travel doesn't rip the line off the bracket... I'm making an extension for the bracket, simply a 3/4" x 5" plates with holes at both ends (one end attaches to the original bracket and the other one for the brake line to connect). Just in case you didn't know, the little rubber knob above the brake line is your bleeder valve, just remove the rubber cap and start pumping... Ahhhh, loving it!
