how do you tell if the delica has LSD

Post by madmazda »

just a quick note on if there is a specific # code on the delica that lets you know if it has a lsd or not???? I saw on a pic, on the diff cover that the oil bung had stamped on it to use propper oil for the LSD.

As with any LSD or locker....if unsure jack rear of vehicle up so that both wheels are off of the ground. Spin one wheel by hand...if the wheel on the other side spins IN THE SAME direction you have LSD if they spin in opposite directions you have an open diff.

How did that work model wise? For example it was my understanding that all Chamonix had LSD, and that some other models also had it. Did some Super Exceeds have it and some not? Wasn't there a post here a long time ago that outlined all the features of the various models?

I never knew about the 'heavier paint' on the Chamonix until I read that here today, and I have a Chamonix.

it is an OPTION on the exceeds and super exceeds, I believe it is standard on the chamonix, and I have no idea on the jasper. (jasper seems to be chamonix "lite")

Standard on Chamonix/Jasper.

Optional on Exceed/S Exceed

Jack up the rear axle and spin one wheel. The other side should spin in the same direction = LSD. If not = open differential.

Red/Orangish sticker 1" x 2" with black Japanese writing on the bottom/driver's side door jam.

That's the right decal for a limited slip differential.

Also, anyone who does have a limited slip rear differential, please do NOT put regular 80w90 in there !!!!!!!!!

You have to put Limited Slip gear oil in there otherwise you can cause some serious damage.
