Kelly we were quite pleased how our bars turned out; stripped the paint with industrial paint and plastics paint remover, followed up with a wire brush in the dremal, two coats of rust primer, and four top coats of tremclad. Really held up well to abuse. Have always found stripping paint and appling coats of a primer stands up considerably better than a quick clean, sand and spray. From the pictures of your work; you can definitly get'r'done.

My first choice was to linex the bars; but since it wasn't my Delica it had to be shinny and pretty.

Congrats on the nice new Delica - still the only mini van that looks good in white.

Regards,
Kev

Thanks for the tips Kev, the bars on this one are a bit rusty in the joints, so when I have a chance I'll remove her and repaint, taking very good care to prep properly! Also, think I'm going to ditch the center step under the sliding door, certainly hinders ground clearance...which is likely why I don't see many on your guys' delis.

It doesn't really affect ground clearance at all because the fuel tanks are just as low, I removed mine (along with both front steps) when repainting the bull-bar, mainly because I meant to paint them and was then too lazy, but I think I kinda like it without them better now...
