Exclamation mark warning light?!

Post by dpd »

Hi all,
I just started up my delica at about -20c, started no problem but there's a red exclamation mark lighting up that I haven't seen before. What does this mean?

The delica has sat idle for about 2 months (with a trickle charger) without running...

Thanks!

That signifies that your E brake is on. If your E brake is not on but the light is, it could be because the wiring is twisted.

As the general consensus appears to be that I do not know what I'm talking about, and cause more harm than good, I am removing this post so that others are not tricked in to following my ill-advised instructions.

Really? I did not know that.
Mine only came on when I was taking the plate off to get at the turbo. I check my fluids, but I think I will check my brake fluid again. Thanks Green :-D .

It's the self-destruct warning. You have 10 seconds to flee.

that light also signifies low brake fluid, so if the ebrake isn't on, check the brake fluid level
This is true for many vehicles, my E-Brake light switch was loose and stayed on so I fixed that right away. Its tucked under the handle in the crease that the lever sits in,a bit of a drag to get to. Now it goes off when its supposed to and does its other duty.

Its function as a low fuid indicator is much more important than telling you the E-brake is on. Things can go from Low brakes to NO brakes in a hurry if the right crappy circumstances happen so the international exclamation is a great red buddy to have looking out for you on your Deli dashboard, properly fuctioning.

I know Dpd in this case just had the brake on in , but 81 views on the post so far a few people might stick that bit in thier minds.

Right on! 8-)

And low means only ever-so-slightly low. So even if it looks okay, add some. You might be pleasantly surprised and save lots of work trying to find another non-existent problem.
