winterization and various other deli questions...

Post by aw76 »

hi,

im having a hard time figuring out exactly what i want due to all the various configurations and models...and the fact that i want every option!!

in regards to the winter package stuff---

i live in sask, but frequent the mountains of alberta and bc regularly, so i really want the winter package...however, in all the photos i have seen of the cham/jaspers, i dont really dig them...i think it is just the aesthetics of the paint scheme and labeling of the name all over the sides of them....

if im not that concerned about the extra paint coats and fabric quality on the jasper/cham but just wanted the dual battery setup, bigger starter, better glowplug thingy type stuff, would i be better off looking to get that in the exceed/super exceed models or just get a jasper/cham and splurge for a paint job?

i have started to narrow down what i want to the following specifics:

92- 94 L300 automatic "8" seater (benches)
winter package/block heater
ladder
LSD
sway bar
brush/push bars, side step bars, etc.--all the badass looking stuff!
roof rack, or at least the brackets for the rain gutters so that i could have a custom rack manufactured and mounted
dark colour scheme-
some combination of grey/charcoal, black, or brown...
prefer solid but some of the two tone ones look pretty cool too

i am 6'3" but from what i have read, there doesnt seem to be a problem with being tall in low roof???
havent decided between the low or high roof, but as cool as they probably are, I do not want the crystal lite roof.

as for the moonroof and sunroof options, im not sure i entirely understand what each is...do they both open, or does the moonroof stay closed? is it only in the rear passenger area, or also available in the driving cabin?

do all the center bench seats turn around, or is that an option as well?

service records from japan would be great, but as far as i can tell, are a bit of a rarity/luck thing...

thanks for all your input...feel free to put in your .02$....

peace

I don't know all the configurations but you can get a winterized edition without it being a jasper or chamonix. Also, not to say there aren't good examples out there, but willingness to sacrifice the moonroof, and even crystal lite, may award you a more reliable/better overall condition vehicle at a lower price with less waiting.

Stu,
Whereabouts in SK are you? I'll be in Regina from Sunday thru the 27th and will have our van. You are welcome to have a look at it if you like. It is an Exceed with middle captns seats and Crystalite roof. It has the ladder and a roof rack as well. Haven't gone through a whole winter with it yet but so far, it has performed well. One of the good things about being in SK (or more specifically, Regina - if you are close) is that Performance Auto looks after ours and has done a good job so far. Granted, we haven't needed much. He just winterized it and put in the block heater.

Anyway, if you are around Regina in the next week, give me a call and we can meet.
Probably best to call me on my cell

just to clarify, the 8 seater only has 7 seat belts.

pretty sure all the delicas have the bull bars ones that don't have them are just L300s the commercial type I think.

Roof racks and ladders are nice to get with but there are nice ones to be bought here (feet and all, custom and off the shelf) so I personally would just count them as a bonus, not a deal breaker.

Pretty sure all the middle benches flip front to back.

You can get a Super Exceed or even an Exceed with these options from the factory:

Limited slip rear diff
dual batteries
90A Alternator / larger starter
roof rack
bull bar

What you can't get (from the factory) in an Exceed/Super Exceed that's on your list :

Middle bench seat (avail. in Chamonix/Jasper)
Block heater

You can't retrofit a bench seat where captain's chairs are (frame rails are different).

You can find Chamonix/Jasper's without all the graphics, or you can do what I did and have them removed.

Delica is NOT an 8 seater. The extra folding seat on the bench is just a jump seat.

Delica's are legally designed to seat 7 adults.

thanks for all the replies everyone....

so, as i understand it then, if i want the middle bench seats instead of the captains chairs, it has to be a jasper or cham?seems strange that it wouldnt be available on the other models as well...

i had read about the seating being only 7 legally, which is why i had put the number 8 in quotations...hehe

many thanks again,
