burning smell and oil on ground

I will be extra vigilant. Ya, I don't think if it's anything major that i will leave it for them, but it doesn't hurt for them to have a look see..

I wouldn't take their advice either, they have done some very questionable things from what I have experienced and heard. I wouldn't let them change my oil after having them compliance my van, when I took it to Glen a couple of months later it added hundreds of dollars to my bill as everything (not an exaggeration) had to be redone properly. I mean wiring in the DRL with just stripping the wires, twisting and taping with electrical tape!

Ok, since i'm almost certain that it's not an oil leak, maybe I will hold off and take it to Glen up island instead.. I might have to leave it there and come back a few days later i suppose tho.. I didn't make an appointment with Marigold anyway, so no worries.. It's sad to have a business with such a lousy reputation. I wonder if they read this forum.

First thing I will look at is the injector pump, and clean it with paper towel and start er up. If not that, I guess i will crawl under and look if i can see where it's coming from..

Since I'm crawling under and having a look, i'm gonna change my oil.

take a fresh piece of cardboard that is big enough to cover the entire length of the engine, and lay it on the ground. Come back in an hour or two and see what spots you have on the cardboard. It makes for good referencing leaks , and its easier to determine the fluid.

well since the seem to always have a ton of vehicles in their lot they are likely too busy to care, not sure how they still have customers but I'm sure there are lots of people that get work done by them, later it breaks and they take it back and they fix it again and a again, with out ever thinking something might be wrong (P.T. Barnum was right but I think he VASTLY underestimated the frequency)

Alright.. I changed the oil and filter, and got around to taking pics of where the diesel is leaking from..

Ok, Glen tells me this is the valve cover gasket... hmm,
If it is that, then it's oil then.. I'll take it to Glen and see if he can give er a look over and fix it up... :)

When it's dry out, i'll have a look again and see if i can maybe see a diff source of the leak, cause the valve cover was replaced in August.
I'll try the cardboard suggestion to at least determine if it is oil or diesel.. Sigh..

Are you certain it's not leaking from the turbo ?

Oil has a way of making it's way in all sorts of small areas under your vehicle.

Gravity and driving can place oil in places far away from the originating leak to places where there is no leak.

On your pic it looks like the gasket is on it's last legs.

Take a few more pictures from different angles if you can. That would help.

Can't tell from the pics.

Slide the driver's seat all the way forward, fold up the carpet behind it, undo the wingnut and remove that panel.

Look down at the turbo and see if it's leaking there.

Who knows, but it could be leaking from the turbo up to or the half moon valve cover gasket near the rear of the engine.

Both points leak similar to your pics.

In your shoes, I would PM/ask another member on here who lives in Victoria if there are any places in the Vic area that can do Delica's and are trustworthy.

If not, then I would call Noel and ask him. He's full of Deli knowledge. enviroimports.com and located in Victoria.

Only way to explain where the turbo is. It's above the exhaust pipe when looking from underneath.

About the size of your fist.

There's a lot of Delica'ers in Victoria. I'm sure one of them would be happy to check out the leak.

don't worry, that's intentionally missing... allows any big particles to "fall out" before they get to the air filter, it's actually a brilliant bit of design work.
