reverse beeper
reverse beeper
Maybe has been adressed in the past, but has anybody disconnected theirs?
Easy to find? Cause I could really live without it. If somebody knows the location, it would save me contorting around beneath the dash with the flashlight.
thanks

Re: reverse beeper
I haven't found mine, but not been looking for it either, but I would suggest removing the instrument cluster and looking for it through that opening. I imagine it would be easier to find it that way than being on one's back, in the footwell, looking upward, reaching awkwardly into the mess of wires that is under the dash.
Just the way I would approach it...

Re: reverse beeper
For the first week or two I found it annoying, but now I find it part of the charm.

Re: reverse beeper
there is a post about it from a while back, I think it even had pictures, I'm not going to search for it though, the buzzer doesn't bother me, it's a great safety feature imo.

Re: reverse beeper
Our Van actually appears to have a double backup beeper... Really!
There is a beep coming from underneath the dashboard somewhere (I believe it's the same beep you hear when the lights are on and the ignition off or door open and key in lock) and then there is another beep coming from the back somewhere. Probably one of these reverse light bulbs that have a beeper in them. If anything, I would leave the rear one... as it is the one that people outside / behind the van can hear - but me too, I could live well without the dashboard beeper...

Re: reverse beeper
I was thinking about the external reverse beeper when I was backing out of my friends place at around two AM, one quiet morning. How he and all his neighbours have children....
I decided against the idea.

Re: reverse beeper
I had an external beeper attached just above the passenger side rear mud flap. If you lay down at the rear of the vehicle facing forward and look up to where the mud flap is attached you can see it. Not sure if this is common on all external beeper Delicas but thats where I took my from then cut the wire where it was spliced in to the Reverse lights wire.
Thanks

Re: reverse beeper
I had one there too. Didn't work, so I removed it. I'd like to put one in with a cutoff switch, so coming home at 2 in the morning I can turn it off, around work (a school) I'd have it on. It's on my to-do list.rps13 wrote:I had an external beeper attached just above the passenger side rear mud flap. As for the inside beeper, I consider it a safety feature that should be standard equipment on all vehicles. Ever come up to a light that turned red, the guy in front braked hard to stop, was over the line, backed up out of the intersection, then sat there waiting for the green light with the vehicle still in reverse. You just know that when the light turns green he'll hit the gas and slam into you, and there is nothing you can do about it? I've come close, Green1 has actually been hit in that situation (his work van, so no damage). The reverse beeper inside makes that much less likely.
Just my 2 cents

Re: reverse beeper
strange, I didn't know Delis had external beepers. My sambar truck has one, and it was so loud I had to disconnect it.

Re: reverse beeper
from the factory they don't, but that doesn't mean that in 15 years of Japanese ownership nobody has installed one...strange, I didn't know Delis had external beepers

Re: reverse beeper
My beeeper drove me craaaaazy so I disconnected it. It's about a 35mm cube above your left foot near the steering column ,it has an eight ? wire plug on it. When you disconnect it , it shuts off ALL warn ing beeps. Never locked myself out yet but I do forget the lights are on once in awhile.

Re: reverse beeper
Do all delicas have the reverse beeper as a stock feature? Hazel has the open door and the lights are on warning chimes, but THANKFULLY no reverse beeper. She is a base model GLX

Re: reverse beeper
I akin a backup beepers sound to a horror movie-esque giant dentist drill that sends the masses careening in all directions when its warning blares out. Although they may have their uses they are not always welcome.
All kidding aside I think it would be best to have a switch where you could decide when to use it.

Re: reverse beeper
I generally don't hear the reverse beeper, what with all the techno-thumping, glow-stickin' and club-whistlin' that's going on in the cabin!Duke wrote:Oh come on now!!! The backup beeper is annoying???? How many kilometers are you driving in reverse???![]()

Seriously though, I generally don't hear it when I'm paying attention, but it has been a gentle reminder on the odd occasion I've 'drifted' a bit...
