Post by docsavage »

Just noticed this on EBay for our American friends. It says it has a clean Florida title, plus a bonus its petrol.

I'm with you in that I am not hip anymore.... :-) The hip days are gone... 8-)

Aside from that, while I do kind of like the fact that our Delicas are diesels, I really don't see what should be bad about gas.... the engine would be a whole lot lighter in weight, it would (at least in Canada) be cheaper to fuel-up (although it may burn a bit more gas quantity-wise) - and likely the gas-engine has a bit more punch... As for longevity / running performance, I am not sure if I will ever take any vehicle beyond 200'000 km's anyway as likely all kinds of things will start to go wrong with the vehicle in general before the engine will cave in (although my diesel has failed me big time....)

So to sum things up: While I do like diesel I would by no means be opposed to gas-delicas for Canada...

Anyway, that's my little story and I'm sticking to it.... 8-)

Best part is that the seller for this Florida vehicle is proudly advertising that he just installed 4 new WINTER tires!

But I'd be curious to know how he's getting away with it. I kinda like to have something the Americans can't have 8-)

Impalator,

I drive a gasser (a happy convert), so Konadog knows I was just poking fun at the oil burners. All you said about the gas is true, lighter, faster, more power, similar economy.

Golf Cart,

Ebay wouldn't accept a 10 digit VIN so it gets advertised as a 1980 when it is 1993.

Everyone else interested,

There are ways that are complex and expensive, but JDM's can be brought in to the States, but one individual has to go through a long process to get the vehicle registered on a list of permissible vehicles. I know someone in Florida did this to start getting certain models of Land Rovers imported. If one could find that list (I found it once), there are some neat vehicles acceptable in the US that one would never imagine allowable.

James

PS. The snow tires in Florida are great, I wonder if he means all seasons?
