marker lights not working

Weird electrical problem here, probably a loose wire, but I figured if I'm lucky someone else already dealt with identical problem.
My marker lights (2x amber in front 2x red in back) as well as the green highlighter lights stopped working. Another words when I turn the knob to turn the lights ON nothing happens. And when I take the key out of ignition I don't get the buzzing reminder to turn them off.

My headlights are still working, high beams as well as the headlights.

Now, the complication is that I have an alarm with remote key fob/starter, and since when I lock/unlock the doors remotely I get a flash of those marker lights, I wonder if it may have something to do with the alarm, hopefully not.

I did see the lights work a few times when I moved the harnesses under the dash on driver side, but I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence or if indeed I did get some wire to connect for a moment...

I dug around a bit today, checked all wires and connections, but so far no go.
I absolutely hate electrical stuff, so any and all advice is most appreciated.

Do your headlights still work? DRLs?

Does your horn still work? When I cured Gumdrop's hypersensitive horn last fall I pulled the fuse to keep the horn from going off at inopportune times, and found it killed the markers and instrument panel lights at the same time.

Yes, I checked all the fuses as the first step, but I'll check them again just to be safe.

The horn works. Dashboard lights don't.
I think it's got to be a loose wire.

When you checked the fuses, did you use a resistance meter or just look at them? Sometimes it's difficult to see a blown fuse, but a properly working meter will always tell the truth.

Or... take a fuse from a working circuit, swap and check. Course, if you do that and you have a bad circuit you could end up with two blown fuses... best to have a box of fuses handy.

Also, there are a couple of plugs underneath the dash which connect a variety of things from one place to another. I suspect one or two of them are for the various buzzers/beepers/signals, but others might be interconnects between the fuse panel and the end service. Check to see that the plugs which are already plugged together are really plugged together. Don't try connecting others, just check the ones already in that state - it may be one of them is not as connected as it seems (especially if you had flickering lights). Know what mean?

well, from my investigations looks like
1.daytime driving module works(headlights are on, stay on for about 3sec after engine turned off, then module clicks off)
2.all fuses fine
3.all light bulbs are fine - indicators work, brake lights work.

4. Keyless entry works. The marker lights used to flash once for lock, twice for unlock. That's controlled by the alarm system the van came with.
I can hear the alarm module click once for lock, twice for unlock. So most probably that's fine as well.
5.The headlight switch on the console seems to be working. With the van off, when I turn to the parking light nothing happens. But turn to headlights and they do turn on.
However, no dashboard lights, the clock doesn't dim etc.

I really really think at this point it's a loose wire, now just a matter of figuring out which one....

I noticed today I have a few lights controlled by the same marker lights switch inside the cab.
I completely forgot about them, since I peeled them off and stashed them inside the foot rest right after I got the van, but left the wiring intact, so they still work.
So when I switch the light switch to the first position-marker, or 'parking' lights these lights DO work. but the marker lights don't...

Could it possibly be the switch itself? I mean the one in the indicator arm coming off the steering column? For that matter do the "markers" work when you are indicating or braking or engaging the hazard switch?

as I posted above, the switch IS working.
I'll have to check if there is some kind of relay between the switch and the lights, and there very well may be, since when we turn the lights on things like temperature display and the clock dim down.
I'm thinking that dimming as the lights are turned on must be controlled by SOMETHING a relay of some kind..
Did I mention I hate electrical stuff?

Tell me about it... . I had one vehicle that when the indicator fuse went (the one that clicks when you signal) all the running lights went out and it took me a while to figure it out. I think that was the case because of something that was jury-rigged... not sure why, but when I replaced the signal fuse all the running lights worked again. I would doubt that this would be your case..... ..... nah...

so here's a quick update:
the lights are still not back to normal, and I still don't know where the faulty relay/switch is located, as I haven't traced the wires yet.

However, I did run a temporary positive wire to one of the back markers, which gets power when the key is turned to accessory.
and PRESTO! I got ALL the markers back, AND the dash lights are on AND the clock & temperature display drop to 1/2 intensity.
Mind you the dash lights are on all the time now.
This whole thing is weird, and I could use some advice from someone well experienced in Deli's electrical system(I'm not).

Did this ever get remedied? I have the same problem as of last night. All lights work correctly when fog lamps turned on. Headlights only come on with stock mounted light switch....no dash lights or outside running lights.

I met a Pajero owner with the same problem.

His DRL wiring was foobared. Removed the DRL module and all of the wiring and everything worked fine.

Also it's pretty sharp under the dash. You may be surprised to find some bare wires that can cause shorts as well from rubbing against the exposed metal.

Give it a shot.
