company in nanaimo is making roof tents - fold over (tent, awning roof rack all in one). Think it was mentioned here on the list - did a quick google search but couldn't find them. Anyone know of whom I'm talking of.

Kev,

That totally seems like a slick idea... and not an insane price tag to it either! What a great plan.

Are you buying one John? Comes with a ladder, you won't need mine.

aaarghh, its not the same kind of ladder, laddy (though I'm sure its a nice one). The tent idea is a bit of nostalgia for the westy. Personally I like being on the ground, and cooking outside with rain falling on me. And have to remember I'm a designer I like a ladder that looks good.

How about this idea? What do you guys think? I was thinking a roof tent but this seems like a great idea.

Cool idea, easy to use but overheight on the ferries.

I know somebody that has started to build a:

Even had some help from the nice Aussie that sells them, just can't stand paying someone to do the heavy lifting. Yet.

I am already over height on the ferry... so I am not to concerned about that. Although that camper looks like a pretty sweet setup. Of course I would have to put some BFG MT's on it to match the van! I think I will just stick with sleeping in the van for now.
