Lifting Questions

Just got my van stuck today and now I'm thinking of getting a lift. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Or can you suggest a good place to get one? What kind? How much $? etc

what size of tires for different lifts? l44 and l300?

I'll have a basic but full lift kit available shortly.

It will lift your van by about 2". The kit will include front balljoint 1" spacers with hardware and rear shackles. I also have a tranny spacer to align it properly but I have to test it on my van first as the spacing needed for the tranny might differ from one van to another. In any case, I'll have the longer bolts needed to shim it with either washers or with the spacers.

The full kit including all hardware should resale for approx. $450 and it is being fabricated as we speak.

I'm making 10 kits right now but one of them won't be for sale, I'll be giving it as a price in the next LMD Delica meet... :-D

Harry,

Why do you need a shop to do this work? A kit like the one I'm talking about can quite easily be installed on your own. Save your money, get to learn your van!

If you would like to have it done at a shop.

Parkside Auto in Langley. 604-309-7718. ask for Jesse.

He's already done Delica lifts and mod's, flare trimming, weld in larger leaf spring perches, shim angle the rear diff, etc... (31" tire carrier in place of the stock one under the rear end)

If you lift up the rear, grab an analog or digi angle gauge and check your rear yoke with the transfercase yoke to see if they align.

I dropped my tcase but it wasn't enough. Ended up with the tcase drop out by 3 degrees which made my shorty driveshaft vibrate like crazy. I didn't realize how bad it was until I replaced the ujoints. They were fried and they were also less than 3 weeks old. :shock:

It will vary on your leaf pack and it's condition whether you need to angle shim the rear or not.

put a Double Cardan joint into your drive shaft, that will cancell out any wrong/bad angles and smooooooth out the ride, I put them in my jacked up blazer and was able to keep the t-Case high and still run 38's

thought about it . going to play around with different options while lifting when I have the time off.

The driveshaft is so darn short though. Adding on a double and shortening it more just seems wrong ! :-D

if you lift it high enough you wouldn't need to shorten the shaft :) might have to go REALLY high though, or you could lift the transfer case a little extra if there is room to make space that would also get it up farther from danger. I have never done a lift at all so I'm just spit balling here :)
