I was wondering if anyone knew what was the largest set of tires you can get on the stock alloy rims? Or what rims and tires do you suggest for a lifted Delica?

Alternately you can also use the "search" function, it look like a vanilla lolipop at the top right of your screen. I guess it also kinda looks like a gear shifter. Maybee also a push pin. I have tried to look more closely at it with a magnifying glass but the screen gets all distorted. Truth is I don't know for sure what it is,but it is pretty nifty.

You type a word then it will search and find a whole bunch of posts with that word (or words) in it. Its pretty neat. Its like Google,but bluish consistently.(The colour may change at some point so if you do like bluish, man fill your boots!)

We are working on a new Wiki with a FAQ section for all this questions...

It's not so much the Wiki/FAQ page (although a good idea, to be sure), we need a simple tutorial. Something that is apparently simple and non-threatening for the new member, to help him/her negotiate the site and all the previous threads on issues like tyres; fuel &c.. I remember when I first got on this site I didn't even notice the search engine with the lolly pop for a couple of weeks. I think it is good that we are discussing these improvements to make a really good site even better.

Harry, welcome to the site. Luna-Sea has pointed you to some good threads and you can also do your own research with the search feature in the upper right area of your screen, although it is spelling specific, i.e.; if you want look up "diesel" but type in "deisel", by accident ~ you may not be so successful. You have caught us doing a few home improvements... smiles... it's all for the common good.

Short answer for Harry. 235 wide on a stock rim ( 6.5 inch) Any wider and you run the risk of poppin a bead in a hard corner ( and bead locks look silly) I think that works out to a 9.5 inch wide tire. You'll need to go to a 7 inch rim for a 10.5 wide. ( 31/10.5/R15) and you will need some sort of lift. Jesse knows way more better but is at this point rolling his eyes (and hes gone through the trouble of explaining all this with diagrams on another post - thanks Jesse)

On the topic of "tires". I see most Deli owners are wearing big ol' knobby tires. Are there any with just regular summer tires?

It depends on one's application. If you want to go off road then you want the big knobby tyres, and they vary in type. I use Yokohama all terrain Geolandars, these are the middle of the road, as it were. They are comfortable driving down the highway and also have a considerable traction on other surfaces, as well. DeliCat has great big mud terrain tyres that are very good for muddy situations, as well as deeper snow conditions. With my Yokohamas I get traction in lighter snow conditions and for deeper snow I have chains.

Both have pros & cons ~ it all depends on what you want them for. When purchasing tyres one thing you should remember is that you are driving a truck and not a car, so you will want rubber that will support you in your endeavours... smiles.
