Report on the Bilstein's.

Best shock absorber I have ever used.

Blows the procomps out of the water.

I am at stock height using them now. Will report back on them with the lift.

I like the Bilstein's a lot.

The set that I bought was for a Mitsubishi Montero 1992.

Front shocks are 1.5 inches longer than the stock Delica

Rear shocks are identical length, but eye to eye (you'd need the 2" conversion block)

Could this be explained? If the front shock is 1.5" longer then stock and for the rears you need a 2" conversion block aren't they both now to long? Or how does that work if still at stock height?

This is the response I got from Procomp about the conversion

Part number for stem-loop conversion is #690001.
Adds 1.5” to over shock length (you will need a 1.5” shorter length shock)

I have a 2" lift = need 2" longer shock on the rear and 1-1.5" longer shock on the front

These Bilstein shocks for the Montero fit my needs perfectly. Won't go well with a stock height delica.

Can anyone confirm the P/N for Bilstein shocks that would fit a stock Delica? I've been searching the part numbers found on Delica Wiki but the numbers they have for the rear shock I can't find.

Bilstein F B46-1467 ? Rear

I don't know anyone who's tried those one's in Canada. It's difficult to get specific Bilstein's in Canada.

You can always order them in through your parts dealer and measure the stroke/compression lengths and make sure the eye top/pin bottom are the right sizes.

Make sure you get the HD (heavy duty) series and not the standard one's. The front end of the Delica is much better with the HD's.

On the Montero-specific one's that I got, I had to fabricate a spacer and press-out (machine) the stock spacer on the rear shock eye mounts. The eye bolt is a different size.

If cost me $249 for four shipped to Blaine,WA. I thought it was a good deal then. With the 4 for 3 deal, that's a good buy.

These are great if you're lifting your Delica 2-3 ".

I called in my order. Maybe that's why it was cheaper.

It came out to shipped for all four in Nov when I ordered them :

Seems they had a price increase in January so that is why there is a discrepency. :) I grilled them on the phone to try and get $249, also because the shocks are differant you do not buy 4, pay for 3.

I'm ordering front shocks only as I'm happy with the Procomp at the back (no mods required). Right now there's 2 of us placing the order within a few days (very soon!), anyone else?

For those considering doing the 2" lift kit this might be of interest...

Following your advice I have installed the B46 Bilsteins ( just the front, as they do not have the rear on stock ). My Delica is stock height and I have chosen the original size of the shock, part number B46-1332 . Cost - 800 pln including shipping ( 292 CAN ) for 2 pcs. Installation - plug&play, on my parking spot in front my block of flats :) Pictures :



feelings : great shocks, much better braking (!), steering in corners, lower sensitivity to side wind, excellent on small bumps & dents in the roads, and speed bumps. I am very happy with this mod. When the rear are available, I sure will buy them ( although the whole set would cost 1700 pln/625 CAN, and a set of Iron Man would cost only 1200 pln/437 CAN ). They are great value for money.

Just for the record, I'm gonna see if we can match a part number up in BDS shocks. I don't use anything but those in all my off road rigs. When I do, I'll see if we can get jfarsang to try em out on his delica.

Are they eye to eye or eye/bottom pin/top ?

Usually the super exceed's and royal's have the eye to pin (w/ecs).

I only found bilstein's for a 2" lift on the L400's with no ECS
