Any way to test a block heater?

Hey guys - a big thanks again for the feedback.

Trying not to beat this topic to death, but one last (hopefully) question - I know nothing,zilch,zip about electricity, but is there some type of gadget that I would hook up to the prongs coming out from the block heater, to test if it's working? )

I think people are really trying to help, but if you dont know what the "gadgets" do or zip, zilch, about electricity,
Keep it simple. reach up, see if the plug is pluged in, make sure the plug in works from the power source. failing that, get a mechanic to spend the 2 min it will take to find out if its un pluged. or just a issue with the cord.

And if it's working, you should feel that the plug base where it meets the heater is warm.
