* Grade 8 Bolts: Strength and Durability
The factor that makes a grade 8 bolt different from a lower grade bolt is its preload strength.

The most useful areas for grade 8 bolts are for military, aerospace, or marine related mechanical applications where high stress and strong load bearing pressures are a major factor.

The off road vehicle market also has a need for grade 8 bolts for the same reasons. One thing to keep in mind is that it's almost always a safe bet to go with the highest grade of bolt you can when in doubt. Manufacturers may recommend a grade 5 or grade 6, but it never hurts to go with higher quality materials. The worst that can happen is that you paid a little more for the peace of mind.

I should also mention that a winch bumper is in the works and we expect to have the prototype done within the next 3-4 weeks. :-D

That's great news!

Could it take a Warn 8274? Or could it have a receiver so that the 8274 could be mounted as needed?
Thanks,

Hi David,

We are planning on offering it either way, receiver or mount. We will be looking into what we can "stuff" into the front of it. :)
I'll keep you posted.

also, off topic: Je comprend que tu parle francais aussi :)

I think that a winch bumper might attract just a few enthusiasts while the rear spare tire mount would be in real demand. I personally will not go ahead with WVO conversion until I move the spare to a rear swing mount.

X2 on Sergiy's comment.
I "bo-janged" a spare tire carrier together that mounts on my bike receiver rack, but license plate is obscured (yes, get a little nervous everytime I see the long arm of the law) and it's just not right....I mean - it's held up pretty good for a few months, rough roads, a bit of 4x4 and all - but a proper swing out would really get my attention and likely many others. I like the idea of the winch mount bumper too - and may go that route as well - but the rear bumper with tire carrier would be first on my own list.
Anyway - all exciting stuff guys and can't wait to see some photos of whatever you're up to.
Cheers.

X3 re: remounting the spare before going full on WVO, though I very much prefer the spare mounted on the front bull bars - It's never in your way at all and is in an ideal location when you do need it. Not so good if you want a winch perma-mounted at the front or have fog lamps you like, I suppose. I don't have nor want fog lamps and I guess my 4x4ing is pretty tame 'cause I have a come-a-long I still lug about, but have not used it since I first got a 4x4 over a decade ago :-D :M

Anything can be done :)

If a bumper with a tire mount in the front is your desire, then we can do it :)
But perhaps we're getting ahead of ourselves here :-) Still need to finish the prototype.
Once that's done, it's all smooth sailing.

Just a thought....receiver hitch style front bumper with the spare mounted on a 2" stem / bar - removed only when the winch needs to be put on....hmmmm.....!!! Now, if only I had some skill!

Do you still have a kit available?

What happens if I install a lift kit without changing the shocks?
Any long time tests available from your kits? Any more wear of original parts to be worried about?
