Water/Meth Injection, Mitsushi's Install...

A few of us recently bought a water/meth injection kit for our Delica. So this is the start of my install, it should be done pretty soon, only have the injectors to plug in and the system should be operating.

First of all, a lot of the credit goes to Jay (Tardisdeli) who I believe adopted my van!!! Ideas, suggestions, helps also belong to Felix, Shaun... Thanks guys! And a heads up, the instruction that came with the system have a few mistakes, just ask Jay!

Lets start with the pump location. It's behind the radiator's fan on the passenger's side (just above the AC compressor). It's hard to see but the pump is mounted on a plastic plate which is bolted to the Delica. That way it's easier to install/remove the pump at it has a good base and no screws are required, just bolts and nuts.

This is another location that could be used but it's more subject to dirt. It's behind the front passenger wheel.

To some it may look like spaghetti but it's actually a piece of art! Everything has it's place but don't worry, most of it belongs to my wvo install. There's only one fuse and relay for this kit. Do you notice the electrical thing in the background?

Here's a closer look. It's a "Positive Bar" that brings most positive connections to it instead of the + battery post. Makes it a lot cleaner.

This is the control valve to select at which psi the system will activate. It needs to be on vacuum.

Patty, the way my battery connections are makes it a lot easier to boost the truck if I ever need to. Just look at the battery posts, there's hardly anything on them anymore. We also installed a similar piggy bar for the negative post but it's tucked on the side of the battery so you can't see it.

Allright, here's some more.

This picture is behind the passenger front wheel (same as the 2nd option for the pump). My space is pretty messy 'cause I have my wvo filter tucked up there but you can see the fuel line coming from the pump and the electrical wires for the float level.

And this is where it comes out, behind the little light on the sliding door step. Those fittings are similar to the airline style, just push in your line and it locks in place.

And the lines are ran alongside the sliding door step. Notice all that hidden room behind in the corners...

Now the lines come through the plastic cover. We also added some hooks to secure the temporary tank.

A close up of both fittings into the tank, one for the fuel pick-up and the other for the float sensor so that I know when I'm running low. I've kept both fittings about 1" from the bottom for 2 reasons, that way if there's crap in the tank it won't get sucked up the line and also because I couldn't fit it any lower.

And the final location. This tank is only temporary (months, years?). Later on I'd like to get a custom tank built out of checkered plate (aluminum) that would maximize the space and blend in better. The tank isn't in the way at all, I don't think I've ever used that side of the step before! I've got the idea from a original Delica accessory tool box that fitted there.

Way off topic here, but what is the rim offset/tire size/tire model and lift of the middle deli in that last picture. Thats looking damn sexy!

My guess would be 31" goodyear MTR? on the 2" lift?

Off topic can be fun sometimes...
The rims are same offsets at the Toyota 4Runner,15x7 and 3 3/4" offset if I recall. Tires are Bridgestone Destination 31" Mud

Install is DONE! All I can say is Vroum Vroum!

Myself and Fexlboi (and Jay of course!) both finished the install last night (way too late!). Wish I had more time to try it out but was getting scared my wife would lock me outside the house!

But 1st feeling was that it does work, more responsive especially at higher revs. It simply feels like you've got more power going up hills. But that was a short drive and I want to try it again and check EGT... (the truth is that sometimes you expect so much from mods results and claims of power increase that once you try it you feel the extra power but that could simply be the placebo effect!)

There's still some fine-tuning that can be done to max the system (timing...)

Fexlboi took some pictures (I forgot my camera) so he'll either send the pictures my way or he'll post them...

hmm, it would be interesting to get them on a dyno, maybe comparing intercooled+water/meth to non intercooled.

I was considering a group buy @ frozenboost.com for air->water intercoolers.

A quick update.

What size nozzle did you go with and how much alcohol are you running? Also did you check to see if the system is injecting. Also how about EGT's? For the 4cly turbo diesels we have not really had anyone that did not notice a gain. Of course the butt dyno is not the most accurate way of measuring HP.

Did any of you who installed the kit notice cleaner exhaust?

Better gas mileage?

Smoother running engine?

Increased frequency of strangers waving at you?
