Diesel Conditioner on sale

Went to Canadian Tire and bought a few cans of MotoMaster Diesel conditioner. They are on sale right now. 1L for $4

Question from a complete diesel neophyte........Is there a difference in fuel conditioners that we need to be aware of? ie. is there some that should NOT be used in the Deli system. Reading the labels and doing Internet research has left me more confused than before. Hi sulphur, Lo suulphur, cure the common cold,....the list of claims is as varied as endless.

Ignore the claims.

You just need a bit of conditioner to counter the sulfur in BC diesel.

Anything is good. You can even toss in some motor oil or trans fluid. Used as lubrication so seals,etc. don't break down as quickly.

$4 a liter is good.

you mean that $40 bottle of stanadyne i just bought is bunk? im mainly treating the potential algae in my WVO

Okay, one thing about Canadian Tire and their diesel conditioners: If the bottle has black and white markings on it in the shape of "PS Cetane Booster" and you see it standing close to your Delica..... DO NOT PANIC. Stay calm, take a big jar and something flat like a cookie sheet; creep up to it from downwind then pounce with the jar landing over top of it; carefully slide the cookie sheet underneath it so that it doesn't escape; remove it to a secure receptacle such as a sealable rubbish container.

Last time one of these things got close to the Miss Lil' Bitchi, she was sick for weeks! Her mileage went down from eight kilometres per litre to six ~ and I think it was partly responsible for the seals on her IP terminating when they did.

If you were going to use motor oil as conditioner how much and what type? A little dab will do ya? A oil/fuel ratio?

I think 2oz of 2 stroke motor oil per tank but would like someone to confirm same...

I used to use transmission fluid.

About 1/8th liter for every tank.

Lots of guys have been using the 2 stroke motor oil for years as a low priced alternative with good reports.

I know guys driving rigs that swear by Howes, and other guys that say it's useless.

Many of the RV owners (dare I say mostly retired guys???) seem to obsess about diesel lubricity agents - there are many websites & forums discussing this and even test data (i forget the technical name of the test, but they measure the wear on a bearing using different products).

Personally, I use Racor Diesel conditioner - available from Marisol Marine in Nvan near 2nd narrows bridge for those in the hood.

It really is one of those "opinion" kind of things.

But, from my perspective, these vehicles were engineered at a time and in a place (Japan!!!! go figure) when and where a different kind of fuel was used - so I will use a conditioner to combat ULSD even if it's only for peace of mind!!!!

Let the debate continue to rage on!

I was using 2stroke oil for racing engines for a while, it had anti varnish additives (I read somewhere that varnish build up was a risk when adding motor oil to your fuel)

I use shaeffers? seems to pretty much be lamp oil by the scent. It does however smooth things out quite nicely. As long as you aren't using too much (I use a large size syringe to measure based on fuel) mileage is up too.
