How To: Clean the Headliner

Post by trilobyte650 »

Do not underestimate the power of Windex. I just managed to get 15 years of Japanese tobacco soot out of the headliner of my Delica with nothing more than a bottle of Windex, a soft nylon bristle nail brush, soapy water, and a dry towel. Spritz on some windex in a small area, back and forth about 5 times gently with a nail brush rinsed/dipped in soapy water (dishsoap) and then wipe with a dry towel. The results will amaze you.

I've been found out!

Paul, I have a couple of scraps of that plastic kicking around for the cd player trim. Nothing big enough if your deck's in the top slot but since yours is in the middle they might just do the job. Drop by and we'll see what can be done.

Peter.

ps: I'll tackle the picture posting problem shortly (can't believe it isn't as easy as email)

Damn-smoker's vehicles are the worst to detail....I am intrigued by your Windex application... Mcquire's carpet and upholsertry cleaner will remove most stains and odors as well.

Ok, it seems if you aren't registered with ImageShack they bit-bucket your uploaded picture pretty pronto. Here's the before/after headliner shot again:

And here's the CD player trim Paul was eluding to:

And here's the whole darn van:

These are all 'clickable thumbnails' folks.
