Re: Center console
Good timing! Too bad I won't be at the meet, though. Any pics? There might be a way to organize a pick up.

Re: Center console
I hope everyone is not getting sick of this topic, but I have a new version of the console ready. It's got the lower box, plus a new second box that fits infront of the gearshift if you do not have a hot/cold box. This is a perfect place for cupholders, plus it offers a bit more storage. Pricing is $150 for the new compartment, $350 for the console, or $450 for the set. I'll try to get some images of it in a van tomorrow.

Re: Center console
Do you make the console without veneer too? Just with fine plywood so I can stain it?

Re: Center console
That didn't work!
Here is the link to the new photos of the console in my van. This is the final version, more or less. I had some problems with the front compartment, which are now resolved (it was too tall and it couldn't open without removing the cupholders.) http://picasaweb.google.ca/vurvdesign/D ... directlink You can see from the images of me in the van that everything is very easily reachable. If you don't have a hot/cold box, this is a great place for the cupholders. Of course, I can still make them with the cupholders in the lid of the main console if required.
You can also see it and order one at my website (http://www.vurv.ca) under the "portfolio" link.

Re: Center console
The replacement cupholder assembly for the hot/cold box area, is that just a big stand for holding the cupholders, or is it a compartment? That is, does the top lift up to store magazines inside? Or other tall/long items? Could you post some pictures showing this?
Now I understand why you didn't put cupholders in the lid of the vurv-box: you'd intended to put extras down in front of the dash. Almost makes me wish I didn't have the hot/cold box! Almost.

Re: Center console
The lower compartment is for storage. I don't know if magazines will fit in it or not-I'll have to post some measurements. The lid lifts off to access the inside. It's a bit awkward to access while driving, but still a useful little box. And yes, this is the bright side to not having a hot/cold box.

[quote="EnviroImports.com"]Once my L400 gets here, I would love to have you take a look see what ideas you would have for it, its laid out differently with no hump between the front and back, and I would want to keep it as a walk through, but I would like to get your thoughts of the center console under the stereo.
if you look here on the uk site it has some ideas for l400s

Re: Center console
I've done a mod to my L400 to shift the super select lever to the right so there's more space for a proper console, or fridge.
http://www.delicaclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=33678
The end result lets me put in a fridge where previously the lever would have been in the way. And I can also put in a console (the base slightly adapted to arch over the new lever position) which houses the fridge on road trips, or a drop in day-to-day console for the rest of the week.
