Steve , we were just having fun. I bought that lil Canadian Tire Grease gun, comes with a few cartridges for about 15 bucks. I use that for all the undercarriage grease points.snelson wrote:Evening fellers, I'm going to be lubing the uderside of my delica this weekend to try and stop a squealing drivetrain.
I have a standard grease gun at home but some of the comments here are confusing me a bit. I can't tell if some of the comments are sarcasm or what.
But what I'd like to know is, will I need to unscrew a grease nipple from one end of the driveshaft and screw it in at the other end of the driveshaft?
Do I need to buy special attachments for my standard princess auto grease gun?

Re: grease points on delica ????
My favorite point to grease is the one that you have to take the front wheels off to get at. Who designs something like that? I even tried with a 90 degree fitting and I still couldn't get at it!
I regularly grease 9 points...I wonder where the other 2 are.

Re: grease points on delica ????
Could somebody PLEASE post some pictures of the ones at the front. I don't quite know what I'm looking for (as far as the upper/lower ball joint and the whatever-else other thingy), so I don't really know where to look.Golf Cart wrote:Steve , we were just having fun. And now someone is saying the tires have to come off! No wonder I can't find the gorram things!
PS: I found the ones on the drive shaft, although I don't know what a 'slip-joint' is, or where it's located either. So I didn't find that one either...

The tyres don't have to come off, that much I know.

Re: grease points on delica ????
There's 3 grease points on each wheel. One for the upper ball joints (nipple on top of upper arm with 90 degree fitting which you can loosen up to grease up without taking the tire off) and one on the tie rod ends and one on the lower ball joints ( you need to clean it up as it's hard to see on the housing of lower arms. So that's six on both sides. Two on drive shaft for front diff and three on drive shaft for rear diff.

Re: grease points on delica ????
Thought I'd try to help out a little and post the pics I took today of the grease points:
Here you can see two points (picture of front wheels - taken from front of Delica - you can see two nipples here - one on the bottom of the tie-rod (90 degree nipple) and another @ about 4 o'clock on the lower ball joint)

This photo shows the upper ball joint nipple on the top - like the last post said, it can be rotated using a wrench so that it's accessible without removing the tire

Here's a picture of the bolt that needs to be removed on the rear end of the front driveshaft with I think it was a 10mm socket. Once the bolt is removed insert the 90 degree nipple shown in the first photo to add the grease.

Here's the rear driveshaft that powers the rear wheels - there's two nipples here that need grease - but only the front U joints - I couldn't find nipples for the rear section??

Here is the front end of the front driveshaft - you can see the nipple pretty clearly...

Re: grease points on delica ????
Thanks for posting the pics, extremely helpful. I was familiar with most of these but had missed a few - like the rear joint of the front driveshaft, I'll have to try this method of borrowing a nipple from a wheel
Now I just have to figure out why my CV joints stopped accepting grease, and if the joints are wrecked, how to replace them

Re: grease points on delica ????
if any one is doing the ball joint spacer lift make sure you know that it makes the ball joint grease nipple impossible to get at unless you change the nipple to a straight up one....i have not.

Re: grease points on delica ????
Sergiy, my guess is that you have seal ball joint( or it sure look like it), for my upper ball joint has a grease niple on it( instead of a shiny stailess cap like yours). my 2 cents!!

No, no, no... Please remember that nobody is perfect. Pedro is absolutely right, I was just checking around...If CVI says there's 11...then 11 it is!

BTW I am in CVI tomorrow and I can post their comments on this if you want.

Re: grease points on delica ????
Doesn't matter to me because I will never grease my own nipples
I'll just pay to have it done next week while i'm there having some rubber boot things replaced, turbo sonic cleaned and block heater installed.
But you may want to post it anyway as it will probably help quite a few people out.
