West of Calgary: Ghost Delica - Spooky

Post by JMK »

It's almost getting spooky. I think the last 4 trips I've made to Calgary, I've seen a white Delica with a Crystalite Roof, always W'bound. Today, one had just turned off the TCH and was S'bound on the Sibbald Flats road, again white with Crystalite roof. I wonder if it's being driven by a Ghost? Or maybe just the houseparents from the Rampart Creek Hostel?

And true to my Ghost theory, whatya want to bet no-one owns up to it being them?

I'm going to be on my own Sunday/Monday/Tuesday so I may head up to Hilda Creek if I can get away to make some turns one of those days. If I do, I'll stop by to make sure you're not a Ghost, although my friends at the Crossing tell me you really exist.

So tell us the story on what happened in the Sauna? I see it has the exact same stove that I have in our living room. Glad it wasn't your Deli!

cool, ill be up for some skiing in the next couple days. Got some great turns on parkers last week. the parkway is expecting 20cm of snow on monday.
Sauna caught fire last summer, some europeans left some candles unattended. 15 minutes later it was a raging inferno. We normally have 5 fire extinguishers at the Hostel, that morning i went to Banff to get some loaner extinguishers from the fire department, so that i could take the old ones in to get re-certified. We were lucky to have 10 fire extinguishers that day, went through 8 and 2 of the loaners didnt work. spent the whole night dumping water down a whole in the roof. Just to be sure.

Turns out Sharon is off on Tuesday, so we may take off from Banff about dinner time on Monday and either camp in the Deli or stay at Camp Parker, we'll probably just stay in the Deli as we usually do. Probably head up above the Hilda Hostel or perhaps N. Side of Hilda drainage on Tuesday.

Bet you've got a million skiers up there this weekend?

Do you keep a VHF Radio there? If so, let me know what frequencies you monitor.

Winds must be high up there today, they're blowing here pretty good.

I'll PM you on the radio stuff as I workwith the guides and other SAR agencies a lot on that topic specific for this area.

Wow, it's great getting online weather reports from the Parkway. As we both have colds and lacking energy uncertain if we'll get away tonight or not, see how Sharon feels when she finishes work this afternoon.
