New summer rides

Post by Chewy »

Well, given some family issues, and bad timing as far as the Canadian peso goes Janaya and I have found ourselves in lovely Canada for another year or so. Given that, we found ourselves without transportation, so I happily sourced us some funky rides for summer (albeit not Delicas, but still funky japanese stuff we don't get here). Anyhow, I thought I'd share because I'm pretty excited!

I first found Janaya a mint Alto Works, a rare AWD 5spd (they're usually auto, and if 5spd, usually beat pretty bad) I can't wait to detail this little thing and take it for a good spirited drive too 8-)

And then I grabbed mine.. A Sambar Dias II SC, also in a rare 5 spd! (I loved the blue on white deli's so much I had to get this!!) check out the, uh... SUNSUN roof. mini camping/ MTB mobile.

Also, this is the head unit in the Sambar...What's wrong with this picture? Then ask yourself, "How does this NOT advocate drunk driving?"

I wonder if the Sambar could be lifted!

Cool rides Chewy! Both very "cultish" rides, well done! (I've looked at those same 2 vehicles before the Delica and only turned them down for safety reason as I was starting a family...)

Nice set of rides, bet that Alto rips. The Sambar is most common in 5 speed, I looked for one of these for a while in automatic and it was next to impossible to find. You know me Captain Automatic .LOL

I think I'll probably end up driving the alto more anyhow. I already have plans to play around with it.

The sambar is a 2wd, so I would feel silly lifting it, but I would in a heartbeat if it were a 4wd.I may however go the opposite way, there are 4cm lowering springs, and I've found some 13" 5 spokes here I could refinish and make the van a pretty slick city car, I'm interested to see what I can do with the supercharger (looks to noel for machining smaller pulley :D).

Neil, I LOL'd at the Captain Automatic comment (how did that go in the end?)Regarding the manual not being rare, you're probably right. I was under that assumption since having looked for a while murphy's law subjected me to numerous Sambars, but they were all autos. figures.

In any case, I'll be attending victoria deli meets in either one or the other, it'd be good to see all of you...maybe we can see which is faster on the highway, the sambar or the delica 8-)..maybe we can get a pic next to a baby blue/ white deli

I eneded up buying a domestic (import), a 2001 Mazda MPV. Kinda choked but the wife seems stoked so that is all that matters. I sent a few people your way on that sweet Delica with 17,000 km's. Who bought it in the end?

I guess as long as she likes it guess the old Matsuda will do eh? is it the v6? man those things are thirsty, borrowed my mother's tribute(*cough*ford escape *cough*) for a week and went through what seemed like 300 bucks in gas.

Thanks again for the good word dude, I reeeeeally appreciate it.A super nice couple ended up buying it, they plan to camperize it, which is super cool, they're on here under the username Fionna. (noticed they were looking for a good body shop, hopefully nothing too major or serious happened.)

I'll be up your way sooner or later to do some riding on Whistler... I'll give ya a shout out, see if you're around maybe for coffee or something.
